The World's Largest Sugar Pine Tree Terminally Ill in Dorrington |
Posted by: John_Hamilton on 10/03/2013 12:28 PM
|
Dorrington, CA...We have been forwarded the sad news that The World's Largest Sugar Pine Tree is turning brown. It is located in Dorrington near the back side of the Meadow that skirts the highway in Dorrington. On Wednesday September 18, 2013 the tree was seen to turn a bit grey in color and its condition has not improved. There are a few Sugar Pines Taller but none larger with its nearly 11.5 feet in diameter. We hope this massive old tree can find the energy to pull through but it doesn't look good.
Above are photos from the Girl Scouts that show John Muir at the tree's base. |
