Murphys, CA...Michelle Plotnik is the winner of this year's Murphys Community Park Raffle! For the past several years, Sierra Nevada Adventure Co. has donated a kayak to the Murphys Community Club to raise funds to assist with the maintenance of the Murphys Community Park. The MCC and SNAC Arnold & Murphys sell raffle tickets from Irish Days through all the First Fridays in the Park with the winner being drawn at the last event in the season....

Murphys, CA...The Native Sons OF The Golden West Chefs will be on hand to serve their great Pancake breakfast for Grape Stop and Street Faire attendees. This special edition of their breakfast is in addition to the monthly breakfast held the third Sunday of each month. Chairman Bert Abreo invites all who participate in or attend these events to enjoy the all you can eat breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, orange juice and coffee....

Vallecito, CA...Saturday, September 22nd at 7pm - Twisted Oak Winery is pleased to welcome you to an evening with BUSHWALLA. A songwriter, collaborator and free-styler, Bushwalla co-wrote Jason Mraz's debut platinum album, Waiting For My Rocket to Come and sophomore release Mr. A-Z. Recently, his songs have been featured on hit television shows such as Weeds, Revenge, Fuel TV, E!s The Daily 10 and the Rachel Ray Show. Bushwalla co-wrote the title track to the breakout film New York Minute and, in 2012, his song "Mayhem is Beautiful" will be featured in the film 10 Year, starring Rosario Dawson and Channing Tatum.

Murphys, CA...Ruth Ireland Klann, 92, passed away in her home in Murphys, CA on September 11, 2012. Ruth was born on December 30, 1919, to Ira Ernest Ireland and Lena Witman Ireland in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After her mother's death she was raised in Emporia, Kansas by her father Ernest and step mother Marie Hamilton Ireland who owned and operated Ireland's Shoe Repair on 421 Commercial St. She met and then married Ernest H. Klann while attending business college in Lawrence, Kansas on July 11, 1938. She moved to Murphys in 1986 to be closer to her family.
