Angels Camp, CA...A mere few days before the frogs jump competitively in Angels Camp, there will be a number of humans swimming, biking, and running competitively in the same fabled town, at the 20th Annual Angels Camp Triathlon. Internationally known for its Frog Jumping Contest, made famous by author Mark Twain, historic Angels Camp, Calif., is also the home of this very popular triathlon, which will take place on Sunday, May 13, 2012 (Mothers’ Day), at 8:30 a.m., at the beautiful New Melones Reservoir....

Calaveras County, CA...The Junior Miss Calaveras Pageant and Junior Frog Jump will be held concurrently on Saturday, May 12 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Altaville Melones Fire Department in Angels Camp. The Junior Miss Calaveras competition is open to 8th grade girls in Calaveras County. The contestants are judged on beauty, personality and pleasantness by a panel of experienced judges and raffle ticket sales. The winner will be announced during the Junior Frog jump and she will be presented at the Calaveras County Fair the next week. All interested 8th grade girls are encouraged to apply.....

New Melonees, CA....Come down to the Visitor Center and find out who’s up when you’re not this Saturday, March 17th. We will have arts and crafts starting at 6 pm, a PowerPoint presentation at 7 pm, followed by a short hike in the Great Outdoors around the Visitor Center in search of some night-time creatures. Please wear sturdy shoes appropriate for hiking. A headlamp or flashlight is required.....
