Angels Camp CA....Winter has arrived! Down here in Angels Camp, we don't get much snow, but tonight there was a downfall of huge flakes, road conditions met with confusion, and the power went out more than once. Snow continues to fall tonight, and that means the skiing visitors to our region will be up here in huge numbers. Bret Harte High School Multi Purpose Room, Angels Camp, CA....After a night of celebration of kindness, Tuesday night's Angels Camp City Council meeting devolved into the usual agenda of business. Consent agenda having been approved, the council moved on to consider, hear comment on, and vote on two rather weighty issues: Item "C" was the approval of the $35K (approximately) contract from Gates & Associates to consult with the City of Angels Camp, and the Branding Committee for what is called the .....

Angels Camp, CA....At the monthly Friends of the Fair Board Member meeting Wednesday evening, a decision was reached by the Board to reduce the annual membership dues to $25 per family. The Friends of the Fair hope to gain new members including the more “junior” citizens of our community. The Friends of the Fair are looking for members all over the county to join the Board and dedicate their time and ideas to the Fair in an effort to guarantee its success and survival. Any community members interested in joining the Friends of the Fair are encouraged to do so. Simply contact the Fairground Office to learn more. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at CAMPS Restaurant in Angels Camp. ....

New Melones, CA...Dan and I at the mouth of the South Fork Stanislaus, after a long, cold boat ride! Dan and I had a visitor from out of town this week. Terry lives part-time in Hawaii, and part time in Northern California near Sonoma. He wanted to catch some trout (I guess he gets bored with all those big mahi and ono in Hawaii!). We took him out for trout, and managed to catch dinner three days in a row. By the way, does anyone have fish recipes they want to share?....

New Melones Lake Reservoir, CA....Join us for Reclamation’s interpretive hikes this spring at New Melones Lake. All activities are free of charge, suitable for all ages, and do not require reservations. Please wear sturdy shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. A water bottle and sunscreen are also recommended. Children must be accompanied by an adult. On Saturday April 2nd at 10am, enjoy "Wildflowers of the Mother Lode" at Angels Creek, Glory Hole Recreation Area. Come out and take pleasure in a springtime hike. Learn how to identify some of the wildflowers that blanket the Mother Lode .....
