San Andreas, CA...The Lake Tulloch item packed the gallery for today's meeting. Even New10 from Sacramento was here for the festivities. There was a couple of hours of back and forth from both side of this issue. Some of the property owners had numerous stories about overcrowded vacation rentals clogging the the tightly packed neighborhoods in the Poker Flat area with people, boats & SUVs. They would like to see short term rentals banned from their area. An even larger number of citizens testified at the meeting about the vital nature of the vacation rental business to our local economy. Testifying were not only real estate and property professionals from the Copperopolis area but Don Fry, Doug Shinn, Dan Sieder, Anna Gutierrez and others from around the county weighed in on the topic.... San Andreas, CA...One of the items on the Calaveras County Council of Governments Meeting agenda was the unveiling and launching of a new promotional tool to help market the new Foothill Ride Share program that helps match people with similar commuting needs. The CCOG's Tyler Summerset handled the unveiling and also said they are already getting calls on the program because of their new Toyota. Wilson Reservoir Fire Reported Sunday |

West Point, CA....We received the official fire report from CAL fire for the small 5' x 5' vegetation fire that occurred at Wilson Reservoir in West Point on Sunday. Cause is undetermined. We had heard initial reports of an escaped camp fire. No dollar damage reported. Fire report enclosed.....

West Point, CA....This year's Art in the Garden will be held at the Vago residence, 304 Winton Rd., West Point, CA, on Saturday, June 28th from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission is FREE. This biennial event alternates with Art in the Gardens presented by AIG in partnership with the Blue Mountain Coalition for Youth and Families. Sixteen artists will be showing and selling their art in a lovely garden setting. Featured will be water colors, oils, jewelry, sculpture, photography, quilts, knitted items, stained glass, gourds, baskets, pressed flowers and metal sculpture. There will be live music throughout the day and delicious home grown organic food.....

It was another of the ongoing Economic Development meetings that have been spearheaded by the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce. West Point CA...Monday evening (5-26-08) Sheriffs Deputies observed a minor traffic violation and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1995 Chevy pick up near the intersection of Main St. and Hwy 26 in West Point. The driver, Steven Herman (38) of West Point failed to pull over and led deputies on 6 mile chase that reached speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. The pursuit ended in the drive way of Herman' s residence on Hwy 26 in West Point....
