With the official start of seasonal flu season less than one month away, the Calaveras County Public Health Department is pleased to announce the scheduling of two H1N1 Flu Vaccine Clinics for the general public. The last clinic will be held on:

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital was transformed into a holiday and gift bonanza with Quilts, Baked Goods, Handmade Crafts, Raffles and much more. The auxiliary has been a big boost for the hospital. They have been serving the hospital since 1951 and in addition to the countless hours of service time they have also donated several hundred thousand dollars to the hospital...
San Andreas, CA...Maria Michnowska, M.D., has joined the medical Staff of Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital. U. S. Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Michnowska will be treating the adolescent through geriatric population for the full spectrum of primary care concerns. “My interests are a perfect fit for the rural communities of Calaveras County” said Dr. Michnowska. “The demographics of the area and the medical needs are inter-related. I am looking forward to managing these health care issues for our residents”...

Three of country music’s most successful songwriters will stage a concert on behalf of the Mind Matters clinic on Sunday, January 17, 2 p.m. in the Black Bart Playhouse, 580 S. Algiers St., Murphys. Craig Carothers, Don Henry, and Steve Seskin, in addition to being the creators of award winning tunes that have been recorded by such legends as Peter Frampton, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Kenny Chesney, are accomplished performers in their own rights. Murphys, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Gala and
“Dancing with the Sierra Stars” was a tremendous success bringing in nearly $94,000 and helping to complete a $1 million campaign to bring digital mammography to the hospital started last year. Bob Hussmann, foundation president, showcased the accomplishments of its founders, past presidents and members over the past twenty-five years. In his words, “We are truly fortunate to live in a community that generously supports healthcare and understands its importance.” ....

Calaveras County H1N1 Vaccine Clinic November 21, 2009, in Angels Camp

San Andreas, CA...The first community clinic to provide H1N1 flu (swine flu) vaccine will be held in Calaveras County on Saturday, November 21 from 9 am – 1 pm at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp. The Calaveras County Public Health Department will offer the H1N1 flu vaccine to persons who are at higher risk of serious illness from the H1N1 flu. County health officials stated that delays in vaccine delivery mean that the vaccine needs to be prioritized...

Dr. Jo Ann Rosenfeld is a primary care physician on the medical staff of Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital. Prior to coming to Calaveras County, Dr. Rosenfeld was Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins Schoold of Medicine in Baltimore. She has also authored five books on women’s health care.
