The Now 25,733 Acre Bison Fire Stays Active Most of The Night

Gardnerville, Nev. - Great Basin Management Type 2 Team 3, operating under Incident Commander Mike Whalen, reports fire fighters made progress today even though the fire increased in size to 25,733 acres, with almost all of the acreage increase on the north side of the incident. The fire is now 25 percent contained with an estimated revised full containment date of July 14....

Bear Valley, CA...Heartfelt thanks to the paramedics and first responders who received a 911 call in the middle of the night last week to the residence of Roger Test, age 67, a long time resident of Bear Valley. Roger had fallen during the previous night and broke several ribs. Not realizing how serious the injury was, he took some anti-inflammatories and went back to bed. In fact, a broken rib had caused a puncture to one of his lungs and resulted in a medical condition called a "pneumothorax". As time went by, his lungs began to leak air into his body...

Arnold, CA... Fishing on the Highway 4 corridor has been excellent with all of the recent trout plants. Trout plants for this week are White Pines Lake, Angels Creek, Beaver Creek, The North Fork of the Stanislaus, Union Res., Mosquito Lakes, and The East and West Fork of The Carson River. Be sure to reserve your favorite camp site as the 4th Of July is next week. Make sure to obtain a fire permit before entering our campgrounds and please be careful as it has been a dry season and there is a high FIRE DANGER. You can contact our Forestry Dept. at 209-795-1381 regarding camping information.
