Angels Camp, CA...The Angels Camp City Council Meeting was filled with business and community friendly items Tuesday night. One that has enormous potential to burnish Angels Camp's reputation of being the "Launching Pad" for Mountain Biking and Hiking activities is a proposed trail plan along Angels Creek. The proposed trail now in the preliminary planning phases would run for 4 1/2 miles along the creek and it would have an even larger impact if it could tied into the trail system at New Melones. The City Council chose RRM Design Group from Oakdale to prepare the plans. There was almost unanimous consent from Council that this project will..

Washington, DC...In the week ending Jan. 30, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 480,000, an increase of 8,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 472,000. The 4-week moving average was 468,750, an increase of 11,750 from the previous week's revised average of 457,000...

San Andreas, CA...At an annual Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) conference held in Southern California recently, Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital received recognition for achieving “perfect care” for Acute Myocardial Infarction for the Fiscal Year 2009. The award is based on diagnosis and treatment of patients who came to the Emergency Department with heart attack symptoms. “This award speaks highly of the care our medical staff and employees provide to our community” said Robert Campana, Chairman of the Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Health Care Corporation. “I have first hand knowledge about this level of care and this award just validates the expertise, commitment and compassion our hospital provides.”...

CWA Donates $15,000 to Community

CALAVERAS COUNTY - The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance is in the process of donating a record breaking $15,000 to over 30 community organizations, as well as four high school scholarships with funds garnered from the 2009 Calaveras Grape Stomp’s silent and live auctions. “Since we’ve added the live auction themed with ‘experiences,’ we’ve seen a great increase in revenues that we give back to the community,” reports Anna Davies, CWA Executive Director. “We’re thrilled that we have been able to triple our auction proceeds in the last two years.”...
