Murphys, CA….Hundreds of people turned out for the Annual Festival of Wine fundraiser held on Saturday. It was an enjoyable event where family and friends could stroll downtown Murphys, enjoy delectable hors d’oeuvres, and sample extraordinary wines from Calaveras Counties finest wineries. The day started with check in where participants received a Festival of Wine engraved tasting wine glass. 19 different wineries participated in the event and had qualified staff to answer any questions about their specific wines…..

Greetings from San Francisco.....So when “cabin fever” took over I called my friend Kerry and suggested that we spend some time in the land of cable cars, Japanese gardens, Alcatraz tours, Ghirardelli Square, Pier 39, Union Square, Little Italy, Chinatown, bay cruises, driving Lombard Street and crossing the Golden Gate Bridge into Fisherman’s Wharf and the town famous for its sourdough bread. With only 24 hours to spare we had to plan our mini vacation carefully.....

Murphys, CA...The 8th Annual Morton Madness, Sierra Chapter, American Theatre Organ Society, is taking place today. Morton Madness is an annual event featuring the Robert Morton theatre pipe organs at Harmony Wynelands in Lodi and Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. The event begins at 1:00 p.m. with a concert at Harmony Wynelands. Participants then drive to Ironstone Vineyards for a buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by a second concert at 7:00 p.m.....

Copperopolis, CA...Saddle Creek Resort, the gated, 900-acre Castle & Cooke community located in the scenic foothills of the Copper Valley, has named Elizabeth Kallio chef of its award-winning Copper Grille. Kallio is a graduate of the International School of Bangkok (Thailand), Michigan State University and the Culinary Institute of Oakland Community College in Farmington Hills, Michigan. She recently served as the personal chef to Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm and her family at their private residence on Mackinac Island.....

They have another great lineup for 2008. The concert's start earlier this year with Sheryl Crow and the Los Lonely Boys getting things rolling on June 13th. The full and exciting 2008 schedule is enclosed...WOW!....

Welcome Readers....Ah, the colors of spring! The trees are breath-taking with their pink, white and salmon colored buds bursting beneath the warm sunlight. Everywhere you look there are bright yellows daffodils, creamy white narcissus, tulips in an assortment of solid colors and variegated varieties as well. The green hills and pastures are full of life inviting us to roll down them or lay among the fresh prickly grass. How could this not energize us to want to begin our season’s planting.....
