Frogtown, CA...If you are a child or a parent of one the place to be on Saturday was Frogtown for the Annual Children's Fair. Frogtown was hopping with activities for the youngsters and adults alike. There was Juggling, Food, Exhibits, Entertainment, Car Seat Safety Check Ups, Fire Trucks, Police Exhibits, Petting Zoos, Face Painting, Gardening and of course more food....

Local Nurses Receive National Notariety

Nurses from Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital today received a certificate for the 2010 ADVANCE for Nurses Best Nursing Team. The nurses will be featured in the May 3 issue of ADVANCE for Nurses for their “Scrubs for Smiles” project that raises money from the sale of scrub uniforms. The money raised supports the surgery on babies born with cleft palates and hare lips. Money donated to the project, which started three years ago, has supported 25 surgeries. ADVANCE for Nurses is a national publication advocating for registered nurses of all specialties....

Murphys, CA...Chief of Staff Dan Savage was the keynote speaker for the third “Let’s Talk Health” series luncheon at Ironstone Vineyards. Mr. Savage spoke about “Childhood Diabetes and Our Family”. Dan’s oldest son Sean was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 13 and has now taken control of managing his disease. Along the way, Dan, his wife Sue and youngest son Colin, have learned a great deal about diabetes and incorporated Sean’s condition into the family lifestyle...

Ambulance Contracts Look Good To Go For another 5 years

San Andreas, CA...The focal point of the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday was the study session on renewing the County's contract with it's existing providers. American Legion Ambulance Service and Ebbetts Pass Fire and Protection District look good to go for another 5 years. The study session was lightly attended which is in some ways a good straw poll that most of the public were comfortable enough that they could comfortably stay away and not have their voices heard. This isn't to say there weren't concerns earlier in the process that were heard at previous public meetings. Arnold, CA....We have The Biggest Loser Contest happening. Our first weigh-in was last week. The Biggest Loser....So far is Alicia who lost 18 pounds. Congratulations Alicia! Out of 20 contestants, everyone who weighed in had lost several pounds so far. Keep up the good work.
