Paloma, CA...Michael Kriletich was born in San Leandro, CA on February 10, 1953. He attended the seminary on Mt Diablo from age 14 to age 18. At 19 he met Diane Jenkins and 2 years later they were married. Together they formed a loving couple and tight team for over 41 years of marriage. Michael and Diane began their family along Wallace Creek, a remote canyon in the Santa Cruz Mountains. After their two sons, Sean and Wade were born, the family moved to Jackson and then, in 1985, to Paloma.

$122,000.00 Donated to Butte Fire Relief |

COUNTYWIDE – Calaveras Recovers, a long-term relief organization helping survivors of the 2015 Butte Fire, has received a generous, $22,000 donation from the congregation of Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church of Valley Springs. Another anonymous donor also privately contributed $100,000. “We studied and prayed where we should put our money,” said Jeff Jolliff, church Executive Board chairman for the Good Samaritan Church. “Calaveras Recovers is doing some amazing things that fit with where we wanted to see this money go.”

The following topics will be covered: using livestock to heal land after fire, re-planning after fire burns feed supplies, using livestock as tools for reducing fuels, reading the land and identifying ecosystem processes, planned grazing to enhance ecosystem function and build drought-tolerant soils, planning for profit & peace of mind in a ranching or farming experience

Angels Camp, CA...At their June 20th board meeting, Bret Harte Union High School District board member Gail Bunge presented this year's Parent/Community Volunteer Awards to Steve Cox and Paul De Baldo, both of Copperopolis. Nominated by retiring Agriculture teacher Roy Beck, Cox was recognized for his volunteer work with FFA and the Ag Department. Along with organizing and managing the See's candy fundraiser, Cox has been a regular figure at all of the Ag events, helping with planning, set-up, and clean-up. Cox spoke highly of FFA and how he wanted to give back something in appreciation for all the program has done for his daughter Amanda, a recent BH grad heading up to Chico to major in Agriculture Education.

Brice Stations's Hilltop Matures Into A Great Concert & Entertainment Venue |

Murphys, CA...Brice Station's Hilltop Amphitheater has matured into a wonderful place to take in a concert, event or a play. We stopped by their Hilltop Concert Series last Saturday and was reminded by the soulful songs of Bill Welles how lucky we are to have a healthy and vibrant local music scene with some incredible performers. We are also blessed to have beautiful, peaceful and relaxing venues such as Brice Station to enjoy an evening out. There concert series continues on with the Little Fuller Band on June 25th, The Hot Dark on July 2nd, Patrice Pike on July 23rd. From July 29th to August 27th it is Shakespeare's As You Like It" on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Concerts return on September 3rd with Edge Of The West and Chains Required finishes up on September 17th.

The Whittles have made significant contributions to the Fair. Nancy serving as the Junior Livestock Secretary for several years. Supporting the Fair as auction buyers and Fair sponsors. Serving on committees, competing in events, exhibiting livestock and in recent years Kent Whittle volunteering his time through his senior project.
