Calaveras Champions Team Conquer the Spartan “Beast” Race

San Andreas, CA...On March 30th, 2024, the Calaveras Champions Team conquered the San Jose Spartan “Beast” Race. The race, a grueling 13.8-mile running course with 30 obstacles, was completed by the team in about five and a half hours. The Calaveras Champions is an extracurricular team initially formed by the Sheriff’s Office, and it has grown to include numerous departments in the Calaveras County Government System. Those who participated in this Spartan Beast race included members of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, Calaveras County Behavioral Health, Calaveras County Human Resources, and the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors.

DNA is a Match in Fatal Mountain Lion Attack in El Dorado County

Sacramento, CA...The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has confirmed that the mountain lion euthanized in a remote area near Georgetown was the same animal involved in a fatal attack earlier in the day. CDFW’s Wildlife Forensics Laboratory determined today that DNA samples collected from the scene match samples taken from the lion carcass. The male mountain lion weighed approximately 90 pounds and appeared to be in healthy condition.

Washington, DC.....The Justice Department launched the National Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) Resource Center (the Center) which will provide training and technical assistance to law enforcement officials, prosecutors, attorneys, judges, clinicians, victim service and social service providers, community organizations, and behavioral health professionals responsible for implementing laws designed to keep guns out of the hands of people who pose a threat to themselves or others.
