Murphys, CA...In Addition the the great shots Hanna Heath took of Little League Opening Day, we also stopped by the venues and took a bit of video as the season gets underway. The Ebbetts Pass Little League kicked off their season at Feeney Park in Murphys on Saturday morning. The place was buzzing with activity as the kids started swinging. It also seemed a bit like a neighborhood block party as all the familiar faces are back together for another season...

Fall Registration is here! It’s time to register for the 2008 fall soccer season. They will have teams for boys and girls ages 4 through 15. For more information or to register online, go to EPYSL.org. The Ebbetts Pass Youth Soccer League is a volunteer organization established to provide an opportunity to participate in organized soccer for children aged 4 through 19 living in the Copperopolis, Angels Camp, Murphys and Arnold areas.....

San Andreas, CA...In this meeting The Calaveas County Board of Supervisors, The Angels Camp City Council, The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce and more participated in a study session looking at the economic picture in the county. This meeting was informational and a great start in the dialogue to bring new ideas and efforts to improving the economic health and vitality of our local economy....

Angels Camp, CA...Mark Twain School District has named Kathy Northington as their Interim Superintendent. March 11, 2008 was her official first day on the job. "The beginning of any new job always brings with it a steep learning curve, but the most pressing thing on my calendar is our budget for next year. I’m sure most of you have been hearing in the news the economic status of the State of California, and we are trying to position the district for those projected cuts...

Copperopolis, CA...A nineteen year old Haward man apparently did not see an approaching Chevrolet pickup driven by a Stockton resident and turned from O'Byrnes Ferry Rd onto Hwy 4 and into the path of the approaching pickup. All of the airbags deployed including the side curtain bags on the Pontiac driven by Mr. Garza. All occupants of the Pontiac were Medi-Flighted to Memorial North in Modesto with major injuries.... |

Congratulations to all of the Mark Twain Unified district students who participated in the GATE sponsored Math Bowl. Scoring was very close at all levels of participation. The top five student scores from each grade will compete with scores state-wide. Students who placed are commended for their efforts. All winners will receive certificates and medals at the end of the school year academic awards assembly....

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph's Facilities and Project Development Director, Larry Cornish addressed the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors this morning on all of the great things that are happening at the Hospital. He brought the Hospital's Business of the Year award up & also promoted an upcoming Job Fair that will be held at Toyon Middle School to showcase the healthcare jobs available in the area. One of the biggest news items in his update, was the announcement that the Mark Twain St. Joseph's Healthcare District will be building a 13,000 square foot medical facility in the new Copperopolis Towne Square....

Calaveras & Western Alpine Counties, CA...The great weather and 3 Day weekend brought the visitors to our area in droves. From the almost 5,000 skiers on the hill at BVMR, to the packed sledding hills and cross country trails at Bear Valley Cross Country and the hundreds of snowmobiles zipping about. The the outdoor recreation venues of the Ebbetts Pass Corridor were definitely firing on all cylinders last weekend. It was more than just snow play that drew them. Murphys and the surrounding wine region was teeming with activity as well. We spoke with several wineries who said that it was the busiest President's Day Weekend they had ever had....
