Traffic Update....Hwy 49 Blocked By Overturned Big Rig North Of Mokelumne HIll. Possible Fatality

Mokelumne Hill, CA...CHP is reporting an overturned big rig collision on Hwy 49 near Electra between Jackson & Mokelumne Hill. It is reported that an asphalt truck has overturned and is blocking both lanes. Early reports are that the driver may be underneath the wreckage. Let's hope this proves incorrect and this one doesn't end with another fatality on our local roadways...

Major Injuries & Night Spent Outside of Crashed Vehicle for Mokelumne Hill Woman

Mokelumne Hill, CA...On July 7th, 2017, at approximately 1500 hours, Mason was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon eastbound on Jesus Maria Road west of Music Gulch Road at approximately 20-25 miles per hour. As she approached a sharp turn in the roadway, she was unable to maintain control of her vehicle and the right side tires of the GMC traveled off of the paved portion of the roadway and and down the steep embankment. Her vehicle overturned, traveling approximately 100 feet down the embankment, coming to rest on its wheels.

San Andreas, CA...An update regarding negotiations between Calaveras Unified School District and Calaveras Unified Educators Association (CUEA). Posted on the CUSD website at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8dxpNiYFqDlSDF2VDFfeTBRS2s/view is a copy of the official Fact Finding Report, including the formal dissent issued as part of the official report, that was a result of the formal Fact Finding process that Calaveras Unified School District engaged in with the Calaveras Unified Educators Association (CUEA), as part of the contract negotiation process.

Jared Salisbury, 41 of Idaho Falls, ID Lost His Life Yesterday In Hwy 49 Motorcycle Collision

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Jared Salisbury, 41 of Idaho Falls, ID was riding his motorcycle with three other motorcycles southbound on State Route 49, south of the Mokelumne River. An Auburn man was traveling northbound on State Route 49, approaching Salisbury. Mr. Salisbury had just passed a southbound vehicle when he lost control of his 2010 Ducati Street Fighter. The Ducati fell to its side and he was ejected onto the roadway. Salisbury and the Ducati slid into the northbound traffic lane and collided with the front of an approaching Dodge Ram. Mr. Salisbury was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Jackson, CA...Update...Tragically this one has become another local fatality. The collision location also was updated to just south of the river which put another fatality in the San Andreas, CHP area. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims family and friends. Life can be so short. CHP is reporting an motorcycle down near Sr49 / Electra Rd. A nurse on scene says the rider moving. Hwy 49 is backed up at this time...

The 2017 Calaveras High Graduation Photos & Full Video

San Andreas, CA...Congratulations to the Calaveras High School Class of 2017. 200 of our area's best and brightest marched across the stage and received their diplomas last night in San Andreas. Below we have some highlight photos and full video in HD of the entire ceremony. When you click on most photos they will take you to a full sized version.  We have included two versions of the class photo so if we happened to catch your graduate looking left or right we have two versions to hopefully get one where their faces are visible.  Below the photos we also have images of the program to refer to if you would like. We have been posting full videos of the graduation ceremonies of our local high schools since 2006.  Congratulations to the Class of 2017!!!

Services On June 17th For Michael O'Keefe 1939 to 2017

Mountain Ranch CA...Michael O'Keefe 12-15-39 to 5-11-17 (77 years old). Born to Betty and Bill O'Keefe in Prairie Village, Kansas. This "hayseed" came to California by way of a scholarship to Stanford in Electrical Engineering. He transferred over to UC Berkeley for Police Science, then became a Berkeley police officer (later Inspector) for many years. He married and had two children. Later he married Linda. They moved to Calaveras Co. full time in 1975 where Michael worked for PG&E for many years, retiring early to work on the "ranch". He and Linda were God's stewards of a beautiful piece of land with many animals, wild and domestic. He loved nature so much.
