Angels Camp, CA…..Yesterday the top six boys on the Bret Harte Golf team, teed off against Argonaut at the beautiful 18 hole golf course at Greenhorn Creek in Angels Camp. Another victory for Bret Harte has made them the team to beat this season. Score records show that Bret Harte is 9-0….

Linden, CA….Last Friday 3/14/2008, Bret Harte Swim team faced off Calaveras Swim team at Linden High School. Bret Harte was defeated by Calaveras in both group’s boys and girls in the case of small numbers. Calaveras has 22 girls and 13 boys to Bret Harte's 25 total. They did their best for what they had. Attached are the scores for the entire meet ….

San Andreas, CA....Following up a call for artists in the Calaveras County Arts Council’s 11th annual ArtSpirit Show, 131 high school students from four high schools entered a total of 200 works in eleven categories. Cash awards of $10 for First Prize, $5 for Second Prize, and Third Place ribbons were given in each category. Additionally, a $20 Popular Choice Award will be presented after the April 17 closing of the exhibit, which is open to the public at 22 Main Street in San Andreas. Here are the results....

Calaveras County, CA...The theme of the Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jumping Jubilee is "Heard it Through the Bovine." Through the theme, the fair is celebrating reading. To this end, the fair is rewarding students for reading. Young students will get credit for having a parent, grandparent or friend read to them; older students must do independent reading. The program began on March 1st and will end April 15th, 2008. The completed reading log is to be turned into the fair grounds office. Students just record.....

Angels Camp, CA….Six teams from the tennis league, including Bret Harte, Calaveras, Amador, Linden, Summerville, and Argonaut participated in the second annual pre-season kick off tournament this weekend. The purpose of this tournament is to meet everyone in league and to scope out possible competition….

San Andreas, CA… The fabulous student actors from both Toyon Middle School and Calaveras High School have put on a wonderful play production “Seussical” after the creative Dr. Seuss book Horton Hear a Who. The play tells the story of Horton the Elephant who, on the fifteenth of May in the Jungle of Nool, hears a small speck of dust talking to him. It turns out the speck of dust is actually a tiny planet, home to a city called "Who-ville", inhabited by microscopic-sized inhabitants known as Whos……
