Los Angeles...California’s housing market accelerated in April as the spring home-buying season kicked off with both higher home sales and prices for the third straight month, the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) said today.

Junior Miss Calaveras Crowned, Jr. Frog Jump Winners Announced |

Angels Camp, CA...The Junior Miss Calaveras Pageant and Junior Frog Jump were held concurrently on Saturday, May 9 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Altaville Melones Fire District station in Angels Camp. The Junior Miss Calaveras Queen and her court are as follows: QUEEN: Devyn Pryor, 12 of Avery Middle School, 1st Princess: Alexis Watt, 13 of Mark Twain Elementary, 2nd Princess: Mallory Wainwright, 14 of Mark Twain Elementary. Devin is a 7th grader at Avery Middle School, Alexis and Mallory attend Mark Twain. This year, many activities were added to the scoring criteria. The following girls were given awards for these new activities:Sponsorship: Alexis, Most ticket sales: Brooke Nord, Best Interview: Devyn, Highest Score on Written Test: Devyn, Best Speech: Devyn. The Junior Miss Calaveras competition was open to all county 7th and 8th grade girls. The queen and her court will appear in the upcoming Frog Jump parade on Thursday, May 14 and the Jr. Queen will be presented at the Calaveras county fair....

Fire Update...Structure Fire In West Point |

West Point, CA...Firefighters are on scene of a fully involved structure fire in the 2000 block of Winton Road. Update...as of 9:41am. Firefighters have mitigated the wildland threat but the structure portion will continue for several hours. Please use caution in the area.....

West Point, CA...On 05-06-15 at about 1000 hours, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a voluntary missing 49 year old adult from West Point. The 49 year old, Dane Allen Casey, was last seen on Matson Lane on April 29th at about 1800 hours, possibly enroute to cut wood in the wilderness area off of Winton Road. Dane Allen Casey was last seen driving a white 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck, CA 8U81240. He was wearing blue jeans and a light colored t-shirt...

Sound Underground Jazz Trio is revolutionizing the music world. Classical Revolution got its start at San Francisco’s Revolution Café. It has since become a “movement”, spanning 30 cities, now making its way to the Sierra Foothills via Petroglyphe Gallery. The trio is composed of guitar, trumpet and alto saxophone, plus woodwinds. These innovative young men have been globetrotting their fresh sound to an international audience. Valley Springs, CA...Erica Seawell,45, passed away suddenly on April 30, 2015 at Modesto Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband David and her four sons, Dusty, Tyler, Conor and Michael, her mother Shelly Morgan, father John Arnerich, sister Deidre Roniger, grandmother Shirley Arnerich and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Erica graduated from Bret Harte high school in 1987 and attended California State University at Long Beach. During her years at Bret Harte, she won Miss Calaveras and was an accomplished athlete in volleyball, basketball, softball and track. As a standout basketball player, Erica won multiple MVP awards, was named to the Sac-Joaquin All Tourney Team, and held the school record in points scored. As an adult, she was active in her community, serving as the Board Member for Foothills Little League, President of the Junior Redskins Football Program and coaching soccer...
