Joseph “Joe” Franco, Jr, 88 Passed Away on March 20th |

Wilseyville, CA...Joseph “Joe” Franco, Jr, 88, of Wilseyville, passed away after a brief illness on March 20, 2018 in Stockton, CA. He is survived by his wife Patricia and children Jean Franco (Pat), Maria Caprile (Tony), Francesca Pappin (Bill), Ellen Bower (Bill), Joseph Franco III (Michelle), and Sarah Hogan (Tom), eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his brother Benjamin, two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Alice and Ruth, daughter Felicia, and grandson Ben. A memorial will be held at a later date.

Murphys, CA...The family of Bob Campana extend a heartfelt thank you to all the relatives and friends who came from near and far to pay tribute to our loved one on March 24th in Murphys. Your presence, support warm condolences were deeply appreciated. The Memorial and Celebration of Life could not have been more fitting for such a wonderful, warm loving man. We will miss him forever. Retired CalFire Fire Captain Mary Fletcher 1957 - 2018 |

Murphys, CA...Mary Fletcher passed away peacefully on January 29, 2018 after a long illness. She was born on January 23, 1957 in Alameda, CA with her twin sister Martha. Mary attended Carmel High School and went on to receive a B.S. in Graphic Communications at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Mary's firefighting career spanned over thirty years. She retired in 2010 as a CalFire Fire Captain in Calaveras County. As a First Responder, she touched many lives and loved fighting fires. In retirement, Mary was able to fully pursue her passions which included the perfect crystal, the biggest fish, the widest rack, and training her Red Fox Labrador Flash.

San Andreas, CA...Bruce Cordeiro was 77 years old, and passed away of a heart attack while at home in San Andreas, CA, on March 23, 2018. Bruce was born on December 11, 1940, in Fall River, Massachusetts. He grew up in Fall River, and Warren RI, and loved telling the hilarious stories of the many adventures of his youth, which his family has never tired of hearing.

Arnold, CA...In Loving Memory of Priscilla Rea Natalia 1/15/42 to 3/3/2018. She was a bus driver and arts teacher at Hazel Fischer Elementary for 39 Years, 7 Months & 4 1/2 Days. She was born in San Francisco and moved to White Pines in 1972. She would want you to remember her as a person who worked hard, had a love for children and the arts. The ability to help the hard headed children that gave her a reflection of herself. She loved to look at the progress and success they were able to achieve and to see them grown into young adults and have their own families.

Joann Marie Inks 1935 - 2018, Former Calaveras Treasure Tax Collector |

Angels Camp, CA...Joann Marie Inks was born on July 24, 1935, at the family farm home on the prairie near Rockham, South Dakota. Her parents were Arthur and Florence (McGinnis) Nielsen. It was a hot harvest day and when Joann was about to arrive, her Dad rushed by car to a neighbor's home to phone the doctor, that neighbor lady then went to the Nielsen home to help out. The doctor was Dr. Potter from Redfield about 20 miles away. Dr. Potter had been the much loved family doctor for the McGinnis family for about 20 years including the birth of Joann's sister, Arlene, and her twin brothers, Rollie and Bob.

Marian Edang Shinko from Walnut Creek Lost Her Life Yesterday in Hwy 108/120 Collision |

Jamestown, CA...On Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at approximately 1100 hours, a 2007 Kia Sportage, driven by Marian Shinko, 80 years old, of Walnut Creek, was traveling eastbound on SR 120, east of Tulloch Road. Due to her unsafe speed for the wet roadway surface she was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and lost control of her vehicle. Her vehicle traveled into the center median where it collided with a tree and overturned. The vehicle caught fire and a passing motorist stopped and extricated her from the vehicle. Mrs. Shinko was unresponsive and the motorist started CPR. Mrs. Shinko was pronounced dead on scene by paramedics. She was the solo occupant and impairment is not known at this time, pending autopsy.
