Celebrating Heroes Throughout the County as Signs Move to Murphys |

Murphys, CA...Dignity Health MTMC asked the Rotary Clubs of Calaveras County to assist them in put signs Honoring Healthcare & First Responder Heroes at locations throughout the county. Today the Angels-Murphys Rotary Club helped move the installation to Murphys for it's residence in front of the Murphys Fire Protection District. Then with the help of the Arnold, and West Calaveras Rotary Clubs the sign will be moved to additional locations in the county. Keep an eye out for it. Thank you to all the Heroes working throughout Calaveras County!

Frog Traditions Continue Even During Shutdowns |

Angels Camp, CA...One the night of May 13 Ron Dwelley, Larry Thompson, Keith Bibee & others continued the Annual Tradition of repainting the frog that graces the intersection at the south end of historic Angels Camp. Thanks Guys for setting the table for next year. We took a few photos the next day and from Ron Dwelley..."Had the honor to renew the frog on Highway 49 last night with some great guys including Larry Thompson and Keith Bibee who started the tradition in 1975."

Frogtown, USA...Angels Camp...The 2019 Frog Jump Champion is Logan Busch Jockeying "The Webbed One" took the title with an 18' 6" jump. His twin sister Madison Busch hopped into second with 18' 4 3/4" jump with "Jumping Jack Splash". The Frog Jockeying force runs strong in this family. Click Below for Full Video & Over 100 Photos.

Bear Valley, CA...Yesterday we took a drive over Ebbetts Pass from Bear Valley to Markleeville. It was a beautiful drive. We encountered lot's of people, cyclists & even a back country skier or two. Lake Alpine Lodge, developed campgrounds, etc are still closed from Covid-19 orders but there were people camping and recreating in some of the remote campgrounds. We rotated the camera along the way to hopefully give you views of the lakes, mountains & more along the way. Enjoy the ride...

Forest Service Extends Closure of Most Developed Recreation Sites on Stanislaus National Forest Through May 31 |

Sonora, CA... The Stanislaus National Forest announced that most developed recreation sites will remain closed through May 31, 2020. The regional closure order 20-03 closed all designated recreation sites and campgrounds through May 15. Local forest order STF-16-2020-07 will be in effect beginning May 16, 2020 and is scheduled to expire May 31. A copy of the forest order will be posted on the Stanislaus National Forest web page as soon as it is available.

Eldorado National Forest Begins Reopening Developed Day Use Recreation Sites |

Placerville, CA...The Eldorado National Forest is increasing access to the public by providing additional developed day use recreational opportunities with limited services. Restroom facilities will open as soon as personnel can mobilize and safety and cleaning supplies are obtained. We encourage visitors to check our website and social media pages for the most up-to-date information on what is open so that you can plan your visit. You can also call your local ranger station during normal business hours Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
