Calaveras County, CA....There are two Turkey Trot's planned for Thanksgiving morning this year. .....The 2nd annual Turkey Trot in Valley Springs will also be held on Thanksgiving morning with proceeds benefiting our Calaveras Resource Connection Food Bank! It is a one mile and/or 5k (no, that's not 5 miles.....it's a little over 3). The event begins in front of the Vets Hall in Valley Springs. Youth from the Calaveras High Interact Club and Valley Springs Youth Center are assisting with everything from registration and organization to sineage!....

Murphys, CA...The Ebbetts Pass Veteran's Memorial District spearheaded a celebration to honor, remember and celebrate all United States Veterans this morning at the EPVMD Monument on Algeirs Street in Murphys across the street from the Murphy's Community Park. The Murphys Community Band, led by Mic Harper played several rousing songs and Mr. Robert Woolworth was the master of ceremonies. Murphys Boy Scout Troop #343 lead the pledge of allegiance and served as the color guard for today's festivities. Mrs. Linda (Anderson) Woolworth sang the National Anthem and God Bless America...

Murphys, CA....Michelson Elementary students were proud to be able to pay special tribute to United States Veteran's Wednesday morning with a special flag ceremony in their honor. The entire staff and students assembled for the Pledge of Allegiance and waving of their own personal American Flags. Ebbetts Pass Veteran's Board President Jim Carlon shared with the students what a veteran was and why the children would be missing school on Thursday. The 5th grade leadership team displayed the 5 military branch flags and a few other veterans were on hand to receive a thanks first hand from the children for ......
