Angels Camp , CA...The Angels Camp Business Association presents the 10th annual Spring Fling Sidewalk Sale from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 11 in historic Downtown Angels Camp featuring one-time sale items both in-store and out on the sidewalk, music from local artists and a wine stroll. “This is a great opportunity to shop at the many participating retail stores in Angels Camp for great bargains,” said James Lindenberger, owner of The Clothes Mine. “Both locals and tourists will enjoy shopping this one-day sale while tasting locally-crafted wines and enjoying live music.”

There will be Treasures to find at Every Business, Including the Library. And Friday (10-6:30pm) the Hunt for Treasure will continue but we will be adding some fun for the kids and Music with Constant Rehearsal, with the Final Drawings at 6:30pm.

Groveland, CA...The Stanislaus National Forest is rising phoenix-like from the blackened forest left by the Rim Fire that blazed through the Sierras in August of 2013. Left with a burn scar that is one-third larger than New York City, a reforestation team is diligently working to bring forth a new forest. Since the fire, much has been done in the way of making the forest safe for public travel and recreation along main travel routes. Snags and fire-damaged trees are a safety hazard to humans and wildlife; they also create a tremendous fuel load on the ground (biomass) as they fall. This fuel can feed future fires, which can be severely damaging to the soil. Jack-strawed trees can also make it difficult for tree seedlings to gain a foothold...

Sonora, California, March 13, 2015 – Free use and chargeable permits for collecting mushrooms will be available at any District Office on the Stanislaus National Forest beginning Monday, March 16th. Free use permits allow mushroom hunters to gather up to five pounds of fungi for personal consumption at no charge. Chargeable permits, which are issued for a fee of $4 per pound, are to be purchased by mushroom collectors planning to gather fungi in large quantities. Up to 75 pounds of mushrooms can be collected per person, within a calendar year, using this permit...
