Arnold & Groveland, CA...Itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, fatigue…. These are just a few of the signs of seasonal allergies—also known as hay fever.1 And get ready: It looks like we may have a real doozy of an allergy season this year.2 Milder winter temperatures in places can cause plants to pollinate early. And a rainier spring leads to quick plant growth, as well as an increase in mold. 1 Allergic reactions mostly occur when your body responds to a “false alarm.” And, as you well know, there isn’t a cure for seasonal allergies. But there’s no reason to let this time of year take all the spring out of your step! Arm yourself with information.

Copperopolis, CA...In 1895 James A. Tower was only 16 years old when, using barbed wire fencing, he strung the first telephone line for what was to become The Calaveras Telephone Company. As demands for the telephone service increased, the young Mr. Tower found it necessary to establish a central office in the small community of Felix near the town of Copperopolis. Murphys, CA...The first annual Murphys Mutt March will join the list of Community Club organized events when a bevy of canine companions and their doting owners gather on Saturday, April 29, at 8:30 a.m. “The Murphys area is home to so many wonderful four-footed-friends that we thought it would be a good idea to have an event where they could get together, have a good time socializing, and strut their stuff,” says Carol Roscelli, the newly elected president of the Murphys Community Club. “If you think your animal would be offended by being called a mutt, you can tell them it is simply a dog walk with a catchy title.”

Murphys, CA...Black Sheep Winery arrived in Murphys with the 1984 harvest. From that first harvest we produced our 1984 Amador Zinfandel. The wine was styled in a big, bold way like nobody else could do. That's what makes us Black Sheep; we're different from the rest of the flock. We feature small batches of limited release wines handcrafted from high quality grapes grown in Calaveras and Amador Counties. We produce about 2,500 cases of wine per year, specializing in Zinfandels and Rhone varietals.
