Arnold, CA...The Sierra Nevada Logging Museum in Arnold will be holding it's 22nd annual Logging Jamboree on September 2nd, Labor Day Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. There will be competition first for the amateurs, then the pro's with prizes. There will be BBQ by the Moose,local beer and wines, snow cones, tours of the museum & exhibits, and auction. Admission for those 12 years or over is only $8, or two for $15. Benefits to the Logging Museum.

Stage 3 Theatre Company has no Home! Forced to “go dark” September 1st Looking for New Home for 2018 Season

Sonora, CA...Connie Williams, Stage 3 Theatre Company’s board chair, has announced that the 24-year-old theatre company has exhausted all avenues in locating alternative theatre facilities to complete its 2017 season and must “go dark.” According to Williams, it is not likely that Stage 3 will produce shows until at least mid 2018 to early 2019. “The board has been looking at one building in historic downtown Sonora that might be suitable but renovations will be extensive and will take time and money.”
San Andreas, CA....Smoke from fires burning in Northern California is affecting parts of Calaveras County
resulting in poor air quality that can be harmful to residents, especially persons who are more sensitive to the effects of smoke. The Calaveras County Public Health Division and Air Pollution Control District have classified the air quality as unhealthy for sensitive groups. The combination of extreme heat for several days and poor air quality from wildfire smoke can increase the risk of smoke related health effects. All persons who can see or smell smoke should avoid outdoor activities. Some people are more sensitive to the effects of smoke.

3rd Calaveras Has Talent Finale is September 16th at Bret Harte Theater

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Youth Organization be holding its 3rd Calaveras Has Talent Finale on September 16th, 2017 at 6pm at Bret Harte Theater. Calaveras Has Talent has become an annual competition of local talent from Calaveras County. Singers, musicians and dancers have performed in competition from two quarter finals and a semi final at both Bret Harte Theater and the Calaveras Performing Arts Center this past August. This year’s final features six finalists in youth music performance, six finalists in adult music performance and 3 finalists in our open dance/other category. The winners of the final win cash prizes and trophies, along with performance opportunities at 2018 Calaveras Jumping Frog Jubilee. Our youth finalist also goes on a school assembly tour throughout Calaveras County schools. The event has become the main fundraising drive for the Calaveras Youth Organization.

Houston, TX...The remnants of Hurricane Harvey continue to be a threat as extremely dangerous flooding continues in Texas and parts of Louisiana. Getting help to some areas will be challenging for some time due to devastating floodwaters and closed roads. The American Red Cross is working around the clock to provide safe shelter and comfort for the hundreds of thousands of people impacted by this disaster.
