Sonora, CA...The Central Sierra Arts Council hosted half the Motherlode at their gallery in Historic Downtown Sonora last night, as the 25th annual In Focus awards were presented. From traditional techniques utilizing film and darkroom tools, to the latest in digital and alternative processes, artistic visions of all kinds were on display as hundreds came through the gallery to enjoy the night. The Best of Show award went to Allison Fairfield for her work "Dust to Dust", the Charles Moore Award went to Matthew Gass for his piece "Crowded Train Platform"...

Murphys, CA...Come on...take me to the Mardi Gras. Tuesday, February 21st. 6pm passed hor d'ouvres, 7pm dinner. Some call it Fat Tuesday, some call it Carnivale, Shrove Tuesday (whatever that is) and even Pancake Tuesday. We call it a perfectly good excuse to party!

Murphys, CA...The Giants weren’t the only thing cookin’ on Sunday, February 5, 2012. The Murphys Historic Hotel hosted the Annual Chili Cook off to promote not only The Resource Connection (Calaveras County Food Bank), but also the Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Counties. By 10:00am there was 15 teams consisting of Chef and Sous Chef on the lawn chopping, sautéing, and browning their way to be the next Chili Celebrity....
Dorian Faught, Owner of Murphys Historic Hotel, Kevin Clerico, Manager of the Murphys Historic Hotel Saloon, Sarah Murphy, Manager of the Hospice Thrift Store in Angels Camp, and Dan Riordan, Executive Director of the Amador and Calaveras Hospice. Sarah and Dan are accepting the donation raised by the Hotel and Murphys Businesses at the 2012 Chili Cook off.

Murphys, CA...Bicyclists from throughout Northern California and Nevada will journey to the historic gold rush town of Murphys to enjoy the spring beauty of Calaveras County and take part in the fifth annual Mr. Frog’s Wild Ride on Saturday, April 21. Two scenic routes, 50K and 100K, will take riders through the area’s verdant countryside at the height of the wildflower season. The longer ride will also include New Melones Lake...
Murphys, CA...Feeney Park is holding its annual fundraiser, the Mr. Frog’s Wild Ride, Saturday, April 21, 2012. This cycling event is a ride that winds through Calaveras County, on either a 50 km course or a 100 km course. Both courses offer rest stops, wildflower viewing, rolling hills, historic towns, with climbing and zippy down hills. For the 100 km, a time trial will be an option. SAG Support is provided throughout the course....
