This Week at the Arnold CHS Thrift Store Adoption Center – FELICITY & NICKLEBY! |

Arnold, CA...Stop by Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store Adoption Center in Arnold, located in Meadowmont Center next to Big Trees Market (Phone 209-795-GIVE), open Thurs.–Sat., 10 am–5 pm. We will also have kitties available at our Angels Camp Adoption Center, located in Angels Town Center (240 S. Main St./Hwy 49), open Thurs.-Sat., 11 am–5 pm. We are having our "HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS" adoption event on Saturday, Nov. 15th at three locations--both CHS Cat Adoption Centers and Calaveras County Animal Services in San Andreas. Event hours are 10 am-4 pm in Arnold, 11 am-4 pm in Angels Camp, and 9 am-4 pm (closed 1-2pm) at Animal Services in San Andreas. Kitties will be available at all three locations and dogs will be available at Animal Services. Free homemade holiday refreshments will be served. Come and enjoy the treats and meet some lovable animals.

Bear Valley, CA...Today Mostly cloudy. Rain and snow showers likely in the morning...then a chance of rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Highs 36 to 50 higher elevations...46 to 56 lower elevations. Little or no snow accumulation. Snow level above 8000 feet. Prevailing south winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph...except southwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts to around 40 mph over ridges. Tonight Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of rain showers in the evening...then a slight chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Colder. Lows 27 to 41 higher elevations... 37 to 47 lower elevations. Snow level 7500 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph.

San Andreas, Calif. – Many callers to 9-1-1 assume that call takers who answer their call will automatically know their location. This is not always the case––especially with cell phones. “In a recent consumer survey we found that over two-thirds of respondents believe that 9-1-1 knows their location when they call from a cell phone,” said Public Safety Communications Assistant Director Karen Wong. “However, this is a public misperception and our pilot program will help us guide communications to convey the importance of knowing your location when calling 9-1-1.” ...

There is no estimated time for re-opening pass once weather permits and crews make the necessary repairs to the roads....

Murphys, CA...Yesterday the Ebbetts Pass Veteran's Memorial Distirct invited the community to Honor, Salute & Pay Tribute to all of the United States Military Veterans. The Veteran's Memorial Park was filled to overflowing with attendees, former service members, the Calaveas Community Band and more. One highlight for the second year in a row was students from Jennifer Berry's Michelson Elementary's class reading essays on the different branches of the service. We have photos and some video clips including the Michelson Students below....

CCWD Hires David P. Eggerton As New General Manager |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors is pleased to announce that David P. Eggerton has been hired as the new general manager of the District. His first day on the job will be December 1. “I’ve known Dave professionally for two years, and he’s a stand-up guy,” said CCWD Board President Scott Ratterman. “Everything I’ve heard about him has been exemplary. He’s a very upbeat, positive and capable person. I think he will be an awesome fit for our District.” Selecting Eggerton from a group of more than 30 qualified candidates was no small task....
