Sheriff’s Office Opens a New Sub Station in Rail Road Flat |

Rail Road Flat, CA...On February 6, 2024, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office opened its newest substation in the community of Rail Road Flat. The office space is located on the former Rail Road Flat Elementary School grounds. The new location was facilitated by Calaveras County Supervisor Jack Garamendi, Sheriff DiBasilio, and the Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council.

Mother Nature Playing Catch Up! Up to 6 Feet of Snow at Higher Elevations & Flood Watch at Lower Elevations |

Arnold, CA...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of snow accumulations of 1 to 3 feet expected with up to 6 feet at the higher mountain peaks. 2 to 8 inches of snow down to 4500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 85 mph.

Mountain Ranch & Valley Springs, CA...In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we’re still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Arnold, CA...The latest from the National Weather Service....Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet, locally up to 3 feet at mountain peaks. Southerly winds gusting as high as 65 mph. Snow levels of 6000 to 7000 feet on Wednesday, lowering to 4000 to 5000 feet on Thursday, and as low as 3500 feet by Friday morning. Heaviest snowfall accumulations expected above 6000 feet. Snow rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour, heaviest tonight into Thursday morning.
