San Andreas, Calif. – Many callers to 9-1-1 assume that call takers who answer their call will automatically know their location. This is not always the case––especially with cell phones. “In a recent consumer survey we found that over two-thirds of respondents believe that 9-1-1 knows their location when they call from a cell phone,” said Public Safety Communications Assistant Director Karen Wong. “However, this is a public misperception and our pilot program will help us guide communications to convey the importance of knowing your location when calling 9-1-1.” ...

Angels Camp, CA....Last weekend the Bret Harte Drama group put on a great production of "Of Mice & Men". We may be rural America but we have many great youth and adult theatre groups and productions...

Murphys, CA...We had the pleasure of speaking with VUSD Teachers Association's Michelle Wright last week. Michelle has taught in the district for 27 years and currently teaches first grade at Michelson Elementary. We spoke about their recent endorsement of Ali Heermance, Colby Barker, and Tom Pratt in the upcoming election for seats on the VUSD Board. We were able to speak with Mr. Pratt & Mr. Barker about their reasons for running. Ali Heermance was on a field trip and we will catch up with her soon. Angels Camp, CA...The Bret Harte varsity game scheduled for Friday, September 19th has been rescheduled to Friday, October 24th and will now be an away contest taking place in Livermore at 7:30pm. The JV game against Mountain House on Friday, September 19th will take place as scheduled at Bret Harte and will begin at 5:30pm...
