Avery, CA...Last Night was a great night for the graduates, friends & families of the 2010 Graduating Class from Avery. There were great speeches, students honored and even a standing ovation for Mathew McCullough after his touching speech that brought things into perspective for not only his fellow students and also the parents of healthy children....

Angels Camp, CA...John Vierra Independent Study High School, class of 2010, graduated a whopping 33 students the evening of June 2, 2010. With the traditional pomp and circumstance the graduates entered the Bret Harte theater proudly wearing their royal blue cap and gowns with their bright gold tassels swaying accordingly on the left. After a welcome, introduction of staff and the pledge of allegiance, awards were given. Cinthia Miramontes received an ESSA award and the Rotary Student of the quarter award. Nagawa Hightower .....

Angels Camp, CA...Wesley Hutton Sagewalker received a $10,000 scholarship after completing his senior at Bret Harte high school. He finished number one in his class with a GPA of 4.2653. Through his entire years at Bret Harte he never received less than an A in each of his classes. He has been accepted at Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Georgetown and Stanford. He has chosen Harvard as his choice of colleges to attend. While at Bret Harte he was active on the soccer...

Angels Camp, CA....On June 3, 2010, with family and friends in attendance, 91 eighth grade students from Mark Twain Union Elementary School graduated with pride. The pledge of Allegiance was led by class President Tony Lopes, followed by a moving National Anthem violin solo performed by 8th grader Jonathan Jordan. The Salutatorian, Mark Moreau, greeted all with a warm welcome…in French. Avery, CA...A great group of Avery Middle School Students took part in what was called a "Celebration of Learning" on May 17th. It was a panel discussion & interview session designed to help students with the interpersonal skills they will need to make their points. survive job interviews and handle public discourse with ease.... Angels Camp, CA....On Friday, May 28th, the staff and students of Bret Harte High School held their annual Celebration of Academic and Artistic Achievement in the main quad of the campus; this year’s title, “Bret Harte Beach Party: sun, surf, success.” This activity filled day has been going on now for many years, bringing the students, faculty, and families together for awards, music, competitions, food, sidewalk art and camaraderie. This day was about success; the staff at Bret Harte seemed to embrace the knowledge that success can be measured by many different standards. So today was their day to acknowledge the youth in their school for their accomplishments, tenacity, and desire to learn. The awards were presented to students who showed incentive, drive, passion, and skill....

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte High School will be open to parents and community members during the annual Celebration of Academic and Artistic Achievement. The campus will open to visitors beginning at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, May 28th. An assembly honoring academic success will take place at 11:00 a.m. in the main quad area of the school. The event will continue into the afternoon with live music, the annual chalk art festival, and a variety of activities and fun....
