Posted by: thepinetree on 05/30/2018 06:13 PM
Jackson, CA...From the Amador Sheriff's Office..."Yesterday afternoon the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a pick-up truck that ran off Electra Road and came to rest upside down in the Mokelumne River. Two of our deputies responded and upon finding the truck partially submerged in the river they began shedding their gear in preparation for a rescue operation. Fortunately, the driver and sole occupant was cut free from the pick-up by a passing motorist and was sitting at the water's edge when we arrived.

Amador & Sutter Creek Fire Rescue Ranger the Horse From Mineshaft

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/29/2018 01:45 PM
Jackson, CA...From Amador Fire...Yesterday afternoon Amador Fire crews along with Sutter Creek Fire District were called to the report of a horse stuck in a mineshaft. Upon arrival crews found the horse in approximately 6-8 feet of water. Crews quickly used portable pumps to remove as much water as they could. With the assistance of Lynch's Automotive’s crane and Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center, crews were able to sedate and secure the horse before removing him. Once removed, the veterinarians worked tediously to stabilize the horses injuries. The horse was then transported to a local vet and equestrian center. We would all like to wish Ranger a quick and speedy recovery.

Calaveras Humane Society Says Be Bear Aware & Ready

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/23/2018 09:56 AM
Arnold, CA...Our bears have been especially active in Calaveras these days, and it's our duty as citizens to protect them from harm. The most important way to minimize human-bear conflict is to prevent bears' access to trash. Once a bear gets a taste of human garbage it will routinely approach homes in search of food.
