Sonora Regional Medical Center Is Expanding Cardiac Services With Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators |

Sonora, CA...Sonora Regional Medical Center was recently approved to expand its Heart and Vascular service line by offering Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD) and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator (CRT-D) procedures in its cardiac catheterization lab. The Medical Center is now offering these procedures for patients with life-threatening irregular heartbeats or heart failure.

San Andreas, CA....Robert Diehl, who took over as President of Mark Twain Medical Center six months ago, has a very clear explanation of its role in the community. He says, “We are friends and neighbors taking care of friends and neighbors.” “Our community is made up of individuals at differing stages of life and health. We are here for everyone. And,” he emphasizes, “we are here for the long haul. Our team of seasoned administrators and medical professionals are the day-to-day stewards of MTMC. The community is aware of the ongoing conversations regarding our governing lease, yet at the same time everyone can see we are investing in the future with recent capital improvements like painting the facility and repairing the roof and HVAC system. Nothing is in a holding pattern around here.”

Meet Dr. Lonnie Smith Chief Medical Officer for Mark Twain Medical Center |

San Andreas, CA...Patient convenience and satisfaction are critical goals for Dr. Lonnie Smith, the new Chief Medical Officer at Mark Twain Medical Center. Dr. Smith joined the MTMC Leadership Team in November with responsibilities that include overseeing operations of the hospital’s five Rural Health Clinics and three Specialty Care Centers. Clinic administration is just one of Dr. Smith’s multiple roles as CMO. He is also the senior physician executive working with the administrative team and medical staff to recruit and retain doctors, contract for specialty services, oversee several departments including Physical Therapy, X-Ray, Laboratory – and more. The clinics began serving local communities over 20 years ago and have been a major focus in Dr. Smith’s first months at MTMC.

The Beat Goes On – Heart Walk 2017 |

Sonora, CA...February is American Heart Month and Sonora Regional Medical Center is promoting healthy lifestyles with Heart Walk. The community is invited to join staff and cardiac patients on Friday, February 17, at noon outside of the hospital’s ambulance entrance for a one-mile walk. Healthy refreshments will be provided and the first 200 participants will receive a free t-shirt. The walk is scheduled rain or shine so wear your walking boots and bring your favorite rain coat or umbrella.

Other services include: Face painting, balloons, and art activities.
