A 39 year old male from Valley Springs was air-lifted to Doctors Hospital of Modesto on Wednesday evening at Hawver Road and Jesus Maria Road. Due to the drivers level of intoxication he allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn. He suffered moderate injuries and was arrested for a DUI. Full CHP release enclosed......

Deputies Arrest Carnival Employees at County Fair |

Angels Camp, CA....On the opening day of the Calaveras County Fair Sheriffs Deputies arrested two carnival employees for outstanding arrest warrants. Sheriffs Deputies contacted James Gorman, 35, of Quincy Massachusetts at the fairgrounds regarding an outstanding arrest warrant. Deputies advised Gorman that he had a warrant for his arrest out of Massachusetts for assault with a deadly weapon and failure to register as a sex offender. While....

Electrical Short Causes Fire on Tuesday in Jenny Lind |

Jenny Lind, CA...An electrical short in a bulb that was connected from one storage shed to a trailer with a 10 gauge wire, caused a fire on Tuesday evening at 8267 Ospital Road in Jenny Lind. Damaged were three storage sheds and a travel trailer. Estimated dollar damages are $20,000.00 for structures and contents. No injuries reported. Full CAL Fire report enclosed.....

TRAFFIC NEWS....Non-Injury Vehicle Collision at Hwy 12 and 49 |

CHP is reporting a non-injury vehicle collision at Hwy 12 just west of Hwy 49. Roadway is clear except for Emergency Personnel. They are also reporting a collision at Hwy 49 and 26 at Pool Station. We will keep you posted as needed.

San Anderas, CA...CHP is reporting a vehicle collision at Hwy 26 just west of Ridge Road. Apparently the vehicle is on fire and the subject is possibly still inside. We will confirm this and keep you updated. UPDATE.....We just spoke with Jaime Castillo at CHP and also Peggy from CAL Fire, and it appears the accident is not as serious as first reported. Apparently there was a small spot fire near vehicle. CHP was canceled. The male jammed a screw driver in the car horn to alert others of the fire. No injuries.

Happy Ending to What Could Have Been a Terrible Accident |

Angels Camp, CA....CHP is reporting a 9 year old female from Vallecito was hit by a 29 year old female from Angels Camp at bus stop in Angels Camp. Apparently the 29 year old female was driving her daughter to the bus stop at Angels Road and Hwy 4. She got to the stop and let her daughter out of the vehicle. Waiting for her daughter was the 9 year old female. According to the driver, the kids usually walk around the rear of the vehicle to load the school bus. When she looked behind her vehicle she did see anything. As she backed up she heard a scream and realized she had hit the 9 year old girl. The little girl appeared to be alright so the girls loaded the bus and went to school. Full CHP release is enclosed.....

San Andreas, CA...On Monday, May 12, 2008, at 8 a.m. The Tuolumne Calaveras Unit of CAL FIRE announces the opening of summer preparedness within the state responsibility areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. The declaration of summer preparedness allows CAL FIRE to staff fire stations and equipment on a 24-hour basis to help protect California’s wild lands......

San Andreas, CA...On May 8, 2008 the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office attended the Corrections Standards Authority Board meeting in Sacramento. The purpose of the meeting was to determine which counties would receive AB 900 funds for local jail construction. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office came in fourth place of the counties with a population under 200,000. There is a total of $100 million available to counties with a population under 200,000....
