Junior Livestock Auction, Not Cancelled Just Online. Support Our Youth on May 17th |

Angels Camp, CA...(Frogtown, USA)..The Junior Livestock Auction is Not cancelled and will move online. The Calaveras County Fair is facilitating an online Livestock Auction for the youth of our community who have raised quality market animals. The Auction is May 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Buyers can purchase quality beef. pork, lamb, goat and rabbit. register at frogtown.org. This is a private sale, so do not be alarmed that it is not listed on the Show Circuit Website. There will be a direct link on show day. If you have questions or need help registering just call the Fair office at 209.736.2561.

Murphys, CA...The Beautiful Veteran's Memorial was filled with Veterans and community members honoring and thanking them for their service. It was another great community event. The Ebbetts Pass Veterans Memorial District and community members including the Kautz Family have made this memorial one of the best in the entire region. We have full video and lots of photos.

Murphys, CA...Sandra Hess, Executive Director of the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance has kicked off the first of its kind, "History of Calaveras Wine Video Interview Series". The 8-Part Program takes viewers on a journey from the beginning days of grape growing during the Gold Rush Era to the time of Barden Stevenot who truly launched the wine region as we know it today, to interviews with pioneers and historians sharing remarkable stories of discovery and exploration. Today, with 40 tasting rooms to explore, the families of the Calaveras Wine Region continue to innovate and provide unique experiences to wine lovers near and far. Learn more about the history, wineries, vineyards and more in the new Calaveras Wine Region Facts & Figures doc released this January HERE.
In Interview #1, Gay Callan, Owner of Chatom Vineyards is joined by Stephen Kautz, President and Owner of Ironstone Vineyards as we "Begin at the Beginning" with first grapes planted and first winemaking families to shape the Calaveras Wine Region.

Stanislaus National Forest Revises Forest Order, Extends Seasonal Road Closure for High Elevation Roads |

Sonora, CA...Forest Supervisor Jason Kuiken signed Forest Order STF-16-2020-04, which replaces the current area and road closure order. The order identifies the high-elevation roads on Calaveras and Summit Ranger districts that remain under seasonal closure. The order is effective from May 2, 2020 through June 30,2020.
