San Andreas, CA...The Lake Tulloch item packed the gallery for today's meeting. Even New10 from Sacramento was here for the festivities. There was a couple of hours of back and forth from both side of this issue. Some of the property owners had numerous stories about overcrowded vacation rentals clogging the the tightly packed neighborhoods in the Poker Flat area with people, boats & SUVs. They would like to see short term rentals banned from their area. An even larger number of citizens testified at the meeting about the vital nature of the vacation rental business to our local economy. Testifying were not only real estate and property professionals from the Copperopolis area but Don Fry, Doug Shinn, Dan Sieder, Anna Gutierrez and others from around the county weighed in on the topic.... Mokelumne Hill, CA...Candidates Night for District 2 was held last night at Mokelumne Hill Town Hall Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and The Calaveras Enterprise. This evening it was Incumbent Steve Wilensky and new candidate John Morse. There were some tough questions asked, but both candidates did well. Some of the questions included Economic Development, County Roads, the $7,000 contribution to John Morse, Are you for a "Big Box?", the Government Center and more....

San Andreas, CA..We had the pleasure to spend a few minutes with Calaveras County Supervisors Chair and District Two Supervisor Steve Wilensky. Supervisor Wilensky has risen fast up the ladder of local politics. It is common knowledge to those who follow county government that he has become the most influential person in Calaveras County. Steve has been very effective in bringing projects to & raising the awareness of his district. Our wide ranging conversation runs just under a half hour....

Calaveras County, CA...There are four more Candidates Nights for your enjoyment coming up next week. The first will be District 4 Candidates held on May 5 at 6:30pm at the Native Sons Hall in Murphys. Lee Seaton, Tom Tryon, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass will all be present to respond to questions asked by the moderator and also the audience. The 2nd will be District I on May 7th at 6:30pm at San Andreas Town Hall. Candidates Zarrell McDaniel, Gary Tofanelli and Kathy Mazzeferro will be present. TRAFFIC NEWS....DUI Leads to Arrest in Mokelumne Hill This Evening |

CHP Reporting a Possible Misdemeanor, DUI, which caused a traffic collision at Hwy 49 just north of Golden Hills Subdivision in Mokelumne Hill at approximately 7:30pm this evening. Apparently the driver's vehicle rolled over and may have caused damage to multiple vehicles. The driver has been taken into custody for DUI. Will keep you posted as needed.

San Andreas, CA...After a round of public meetings, including a study session with the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, and much public dialogue we can report the following to you. We confirmed that the Building Department changed the way they “interpret” our current Fire and Life Safety Code mid year 2007. They were strongly challenged for taking this new position and we did have some limited success in softening the impact. Where the mitigation since 1992 was to pave the driveway, that is no longer the rule of the land....
