Rockin' the Park Fundraiser In Mountain Ranch

Mountain Ranch, CA...Come rock with us on Saturday, July 9, 2016 as we Rockin' the Park, at Mountain Ranch Park, beginning at 5:00 PM with a no host bar. Serving your favorite pale ale beer and wine. A delicious Ravioli dinner follows at 6:00 PM, cost $25.00 for adults and $10.00 kids under 8 years old. This event is for the benefit of our Town Hall, to cover operating expenses. Musical entertainment by "The Rangers" playing the top 40, Country Rock "Americana" with some trio's and local talent 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Put on your dancing shoes for this one, you'll all enjoy this fantastic music.

Live Election Results From Election Central As Polls Close Tonight...New Stories Below

San Andreas, CA...Tonight we will continue our tradition of bringing you election results from the County Clerk's Office as the precinct results come in. Typically the first run of vote by mail or absentee votes are reported by 8:30pm or so. Will any candidate in the supervisors races get over 50% tonight and avoid a battle in the fall? We will let you know as the results come in.

Countywide Math Mini Bowl Competition Goes Tech Savvy

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Office of Education held its 36th Annual Math Mini-Bowl competition at Calaveras River Academy/Mountain Oaks School in San Andreas on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Approximately 120 fifth and sixth grade students from Calaveras County Schools put their math skills to the test. The following schools were represented: Albert Michelson Elementary, Avery Middle School, Christian Family Learning Center, Hazel Fischer Elementary, Jenny Lind Elementary, Mark Twain Elementary, Rail Road Flat Elementary, San Andreas Elementary, Valley Springs Elementary, West Point Elementary

James Pryor, a 6th grader from Avery Middle School , won 1st place in the Blitz, tied for 2nd place in the Huddle, and was part of the 2nd place Bomb team. Kierian O'Donnell, a 5th grader from Hazel Fischer Elementary, took 2nd place in the Blitz, 1st place in the Huddle, and was part of the 1st place Bomb team.

EPFW Donates To Butte Fire Recovery

Arnold, CA...Ebbetts Pass Forest Watch helps with the Butte Fire Recovery donating $1600.00 from their 2016 Love the Forest Concert to Friends Of Rail Road Flat School Butte Fire Recovery Efforts. FORRFS is a Non-Profit Group under the Auspices of Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council. FORRFS provide enrichment classes to students of RRF School in various subjects including computer coding, 3-D printing, Lego robotics, gardening, guitar, poetry, art and much more. Additionally they provide a monthly free farm to fork community meal with produce from the school garden, bi-monthly wellness workshops, a co-op preschool and many more supplemental offerings. FORRFS operates independently from the public school system. All enrichment programs and activities are funded from fundraising efforts, private donations and grants.

Questions for Supervisor Candidates From Calaveras Taxpayers Association

Copperopolis, CA...The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association invited 7 candidates to answer 7 questions of issues of concern which were not addressed in other forums.  All responded and 5 agreed to participate. The candidates provided Yes, No and Maybe answers and had the opportunity for short comments. The questions with background reasons for posting the question are below, followed by answers and brief comments from candidates.  We also are conducting an online poll asking for public response to the questions as well.  The link is at the end below. We plan to publish the public result on this website.

CHP Has Seven Arrests, Five DUI's, One Stolen Car & One For Stolen John Deer Tractor

San Andreas, CA...In Calaveras County, 7 people were arrested by the CHP between 6:00 pm Friday and 11:59 pm Monday. 5 were arrested for DUI while 1 was arrested for possession of a stolen Honda Civic and the other for possession of a stolen John Deere Tractor.

It's Rebuilding Time Now That Butte Fire Hazardous Debris Removal Is Completed

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday marked the official end of the Hazardous Debris removal that was done on over 850 properties in the Butte Fire burn area. CalRecycle built a temporary bridge to allow access to 3 properties at the end of Baker Riley Rd. This allowed the last official loads to travel off the properties. 10s of thousands of truckloads and millions of tons of debris have now been removed.
