Valley Springs, CA – Recognizing that the need for donations is greater than ever at local food banks across the nation, Curves International is kicking off the 2012 Curves Food Drive on March 1 with a challenge to all Curves Clubs to meet or exceed last year's donations. Each club, including Curves of Valley Springs, is asking its members to donate bags of non-perishable food or cash throughout the month of March to support their local community food bank. In addition, Curves of Valley Springs will waive the joining fee for new members who bring in a bag of non-perishable food or donate $30 to their local food bank from March 1-31...

San Andreas, CA..We will be going back to posting the Sheriff's Logs daily instead of a once a week summary. The main reason is that with AB109 and other early releases there had been a marked increase in Home Burglaries, Crimes of Opportunity and Thefts. This is happening all over the county. From thieves going from car to car looking for unlocked doors in the Valley Springs area to men walking into a home in Blue Lake Springs in the middle of the afternoon, to potential home invasion style residential burglaries near Angels Camp where suspects entered homes while the residents were sleeping in bold and brazen robberies....

Burson, CA...Bankruptcy judges have given the Nemees until May to present their civil case against the county. That Judge Sargis allowed the case to go forward was helped that a couple of witnesses had yet to be served. On a related issue we are hearing that the bank may have to re notice the sales. Short of that however Golf still continues on the troubled course on the west side of the county....

The search warrant was the result of an extensive, ongoing investigation into the illegal cultivation and sale of Marijuana. During the search warrant, over 1,700 marijuana plants in various stages of growth and maturity were seized along with over 4.5 pounds of processed marijuana...

(Valley Springs, CA) On 03/12/12 Calaveras Sheriff’s deputies received a call from a homeowner regarding a burglary in the 8400 block of O’Reilly Street, Valley Springs. The homeowner stated that between the hours of 0430 and 0445 on March 12th, an adult male entered his house while he, his girlfriend, and their two young children slept. He was awakened by a light the intruder was using while standing in the homeowner’s bedroom. While in the house the intruder also entered one of the children’s bedrooms and rummaged through a dresser drawer, awakening the child....

Valley Springs, CA...One memorable line Seana said was "It's You Against No...Never Say No!" It may come as a surprise to many of you but we have one of the most dominant cyclists of all time living right here in Calaveras County. In long distance cycling her records are unequaled by any women and almost no men. Some high points..She has won the RAAM or Race Across America a record setting 6 times. She owns the female record for the fastest transcontinental record at 9 Days and just over 4 hours. She was inducted into the Ultra Cycling Hall of Fame in 2004...
