11th Annual Black Oak Casino Resort Community Grab for Cash Nets Area Non-Profits over $23,000

Tuolumne, CA....The 2013 11th Annual Grab for Cash enriched ten deserving local non-profit groups with over $23,000 this year. Ten groups were selected from almost 60 non-profit entries this year representing many diverse areas of community support programs. “The Community Grab for Cash at Black Oak Casino is our way of kicking off the holiday season by giving back to the community,” said Ron Patel, General Manager of Black Oak Casino Resort. “It’s a fun opportunity for our local non-profit organizations to get some much needed financial support.”...

Here are some opportunities for you, your staff and your family and friends. Saturday, Nov. 23 -- 9 am to about noon. PINE BOUGH COLLECTING GROUP Join a group heading up to the mountains to cut pine boughs and pick up giant pine cones for our pine bough-making party. Meet at Starbucks by 9 am. Bring loppers and gloves. You can drive up or join another group. ACBA has permission again this year to cut in a part of the forest. And our volunteers can bring back some boughs and cones for their own decorations if they want. The group will stop for pizza on the way back, but you can head back to Angels. Yes, There Is a Need in Calaveras County. Habitat for Humanity Update from by Myron Kelso

San Andreas, CA....The U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (Feb 2013) identified8.3% of the children living in Calaveras County are living in crowded households. A crowded household is identified as more than one person per room of the house (counting all rooms except the bathroom). Would you be willing to share one bedroom with 3, 4, 5 or more persons? A 2012 Point In Time (PIT) Count showed that Amador and Calaveras Counties had a combined homeless population of 379 with an estimated 24 homeless veterans in that mix. And, according to the Calaveras Works & Human Services Agency, even with a ‘best effort’ the PIT Count does not collect data on many of the homeless in the County and therefore the numbers are likely much higher. In May 2011, the Calaveras Board of Supervisors was briefed on the Point In Time Homeless Survey. Those numbers showed 15 one parent families and 12 two parent families living homeless our area. 37% of the homeless had an income source; it just was not enough to feed and house a family...

Bear Valley, CA..The 10th Annual Wintersports History Night is Decemeber 14 at the Bear Valley Lodge, Cathedral Lounge. The honoree this year is Harry Schimke who for many in the area needs no introduction and without Harry and the entire Schimke Family our area would not be the same. The Ebbetts Pass Historical Association was established in the summer of 2003, by a handful of Bear Valley residents, following many discussions of earnest that we should start something to preserve history of our area and make it available to the public. Our goal at the beginning was not only to capture memories of the High Sierra -Hwy 4, but also to gather and preserve the history along the Hwy 4 corridor from Arnold up to the summit...

CCWD Capital Improvement Projects November 2013

Copperopolis, CA...On November 18, 2013 CCWD will begin the rehabilitation of three pump stations in the Poker Flats development. The pump station rehabilitation is part of the CCWD Capital Improvement Plan. This work is critical since the pump stations are located near a public water supply. CCWD crews will be on site to begin the work. The first pump station scheduled for work is located on Millie Court. The second and third pump stations are located on Poker flat road and Eagle Point....
