Posted by: thepinetree on 09/02/2016 11:54 AM
Valley Springs, CA...(Editor's Note: ThePineTree.net will be working with The Valley Springs news to provide county legal notices to as wide of an audience as possible. We would like to congratulate the Valley Springs News on being awarded the contract and we are pleased to be able to provide additional exposure for the notices. The courts have yet to grant web only publications as paper's of record regardless of traffic.) The Valley Springs News is Calaveras County’s newspaper of record beginning Thursday, Sept. 1. That is the day The News becomes the official source for the county’s public notices and legal advertising. These notices alert the public to important governmental activities such as new ordinances under consideration by the Board of Supervisors, upcoming land-use decisions going before the Planning Commission, and whether you’re past due on your property tax payment.

COUNTYWIDE – Calaveras Recovers, a long-term relief organization helping survivors of the 2015 Butte Fire, has received a generous, $22,000 donation from the congregation of Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church of Valley Springs. Another anonymous donor also privately contributed $100,000. “We studied and prayed where we should put our money,” said Jeff Jolliff, church Executive Board chairman for the Good Samaritan Church. “Calaveras Recovers is doing some amazing things that fit with where we wanted to see this money go.”

VOTE NO on “Measure D” It’s claim to “Control Commercial Cannabis Cultivation in Calaveras” is deceptive!

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/01/2016 10:11 AM
Angels Camp, CA...Why Vote No on D when it offers “Control for Commercial Cannabis”? Simple -- Measure D is a hastily and poorly written legislation. It lacks the necessary authority for law enforcement and code compliance to do their jobs! It is in conflict with current zoning law. It has a seriously flawed land-lease component. Measure D expands commercial cultivation of Marijuana/Cannabis crops to full recreational use. It fails to even mention “Medical Marijuana” anywhere in its language. Measure D puts the Handcuff’s on Law Enforcement and must be defeated!

Willow Fire Update From Cal Fire

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/01/2016 03:53 PM
San Andreas, CA...On Sunday, August 28, 2016, the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of CAL FIRE responded to the Willow Fire in San Andreas, California. Through the combined efforts of local, federal and state firefighters, law enforcement cooperators, and the public, the fire was contained that same day at 450 acres. Of note, residents in the Willow Creek subdivision benefitted from their due diligence in performing defensible space work. This work allowed firefighters to protect these structures, and move on to other homes in need of protection. Their work also provided a safer environment for the firefighters.
