Christmas in White Pines Parade of Lights Keeps Growing & Growing

White Pines, CA...(Not Arnold)...On the Friday after Thanksgiving it is becoming a tradition for locals and visitors to line the sides of Blagen Road to welcome in the Christmas Season. Santa & Mrs. Claus attend so all the young ones can get a picture taken and get those gift requests in. After Santa's visit things really get festive as the parade of lights fills White Pines. It was raining this year that while it didn't dampen the crowds or enthusiasm it did make some of the pictures less than stellar. A few shots and parade video are below.

The SNAC Family Thanks You for Shopping Locally for the Holidays!

Arnold, Murphys & Sonora, CA...The SNAC Family Thanks You for Shopping Locally! Back in the early 90’s, when Shawn was selling out of the back of his truck as “The Eddy Mart”, the most important items to have on hand were life jackets, river shorts, sandals and river knives. Oh yes, and a few things the rafting customers would want, t-shirts, hats, sunscreen, etc. It became obvious that The Eddy Mart was getting too big to operate out of a garage when the whitewater kayaks came. It was time for a storefront. That’s when providence arrived on the scene.
Washington, DC...The holidays are a time for gathering and celebrating with family and friends, gift-giving, reflection and thanks. To commemorate this time of year, the U.S. Census Bureau joins in the fun with a list of holiday-related facts and figures from its vast collection of statistics. Every Day is Christmas in Noel, Mo. Places with festive names include a dozen named Holly — Mount Holly, N.C. (population 15,635), and Holly Springs, Miss. (7,621), among them. There is also Snowflake, Ariz. (population 5,753); Santa Claus town, Ind. (2,411); North Pole, Alaska (2,101); Noel, Mo. (1,817); and — remember Santa’s reindeer — Dasher, Ga. (991), and Rudolph, Wis. (424).
