To commemorate this time of year, the U.S. Census Bureau joins in the fun with a list of holiday-related facts and figures from its vast collection of statistics. Every Day is Christmas in Noel, Mo. Places with festive names include a dozen named Holly — Mount Holly, N.C. (population 15,635), and Holly Springs, Miss. (7,621), among them. There is also Snowflake, Ariz. (population 5,753); Santa Claus town, Ind. (2,411); North Pole, Alaska (2,101); Noel, Mo. (1,817); and — remember Santa’s reindeer — Dasher, Ga. (991), and Rudolph, Wis. (424).

Funding for these grants is from the Foundation’s General Grant Fund. Arnold, CA...We will have a bit of everything this week along the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. According to NWS Sacramento our outlook is... Today Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations, a chance of rain showers. At higher elevations, a chance of snow showers in the morning, then a chance of rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Highs 33 to 48 higher elevations...46 to 54 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Snow level 5000 feet increasing to 6000 feet in the afternoon. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph. Tonight Mostly clear. At higher elevations, a slight chance of rain and snow showers in the evening, then a slight chance of snow showers after midnight. Colder. Lows 18 to 33 higher elevations...31 to 40 lower elevations. Prevailing east winds up to 15 mph.

Arnold, CA...Ebbetts Pass Fire District Needs Your Help Deciding Their Future. December 11th at 6pm, Independence Hall in White Pines. EPFD is funded, in part, by two special taxes that enable us to provide top notch FIRE and EMS services. The first special tax was voted on and passed in 1998. This provided additional staffing as a paramedic within the District 24/7/365. The second was voter approved in 2004. Which funded extra staffing and one full-time, paramedic staffed ambulances and a second full-time staffed fire station.
