Copperopolis, CA...Dear Editor, Below is the question from CCTA asked of all supervisor candidates with their responses. The Copper Gazette and the Pinetree have promised that the responses would be presented verbatim. A big thank you goes to the candidates who did respond, which are Bryce Randall, Joe Kelly and Tom Tryon. Candidates not responding were: Chris Wright, Michael Del'Orto, Tom Swartz, Gary Tofanelli, Clifford Edison, Russ Thomas and Debbie Ponte....

Murphys, CA...Frog Jump Weekend is Harley Time in Calaveras. Hwy 4 and Murphys Grade Road were filled with Bikes, Bikers and Biketttes moving between Frogtown and Murphys. Murphys as usual this weekend was filled from the Nugget to Murphys Hotel. Murphys Hotel was ground zero for all the action as the extraordinary local band Plan B was playing on the lawn and the beer was flowing. Merchandise was flying off the racks at Murphys Motorcycle Company. The entrepreneurial spirit was alive and well as to local young ladies set up a bikini bike wash near the Nugget to clean the chrome on those Harley's polished...

Murphys, CA...Stacy Lynn Apley so sadly died at home Saturday morning, May 12. Her valiant struggle against cancer is completed. She was 48 years old. Stacy was born in Portola, Ca. November 20,1963. She spent her childhood in the small town of Greenville, Ca. within an active, well-known family. Stacy graduated from Chico State University with majors in Psychology and Child Development. Murphys, CA...The Calaveras Community Band, that traces its history to California’s gold rush days, will present a special Memorial Day concert under the direction of Bandmaster Mic Harper in the Murphys Community Park on Monday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. There is no admission charge for the program that will honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces in the past and those currently stationed around the world. Murphys, CA...Second graders in Suzanne Mattson's class made a magnificant discovery last week on the campus of Michelson Elementary in Murphys. As part of their ongoing Social Studies and Reading unit on fossils, they went on an archeological "dig" in the school site sandbox where the students dug up some amazing artifacts. Murphys, CA...We thought we should pass along some very sad news. Local mom and longtime fighter against cancer as passed away. We will pass along the obituary and service details as soon as they come in. From all of us at ThePineTree.net our thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family....

Murphys, CA..To kick off this year’s season of First Fridays in the Park neighborhood gatherings, the sponsoring Murphys Community Club has decided to fudge a little by staging the June event on the second Friday of the month, June 8, to avoid a conflict with the graduation ceremony at Bret Harte High School....
