Griefbuster Training
Calaveras Community Foundation & Spinty Foundation Provide Griefbuster Grant
Recently the number of children who have been served by the Griefbusters Program has begun to steadily rise with over 24 referrals in just the past 12 months. More and more referrals are being received each month as the Program continues to help support children though their grief. “While the number of Griefbuster referrals is increasing, we know the actual need is even greater,” said Dan Riordan, Executive Director. That is why this year Hospice of Amador & Calaveras applied for a grant from the Calaveras Community Foundation and the Spinty Foundation....
“Our Griefbuster program serves children between the ages of 3-17 who have lost a loved one,” said Riordan. “We do our best to connect the child with a highly trained Griefbuster volunteer who meets with them one time per week helping to support their grief process. We were very pleased recently to learn that were being granted $4,000 by the Calaveras Community Foundation and $10,000 by the Spinty Foundation. The funds will help Hospice not only continue this important work but expand services in areas of Calaveras County where the unmet need is great. “
With the grant from the Calaveras Community Foundation, additional training and outreach in Calaveras will be provided. The Spinty funding will assure that the resources are in place to provide continuous administrative and psychosocial professional oversight.
The upcoming Griefbuster training is scheduled for April 6th and April 7th at the Calaveras Senior Center in San Andreas.
