10:00 AM DR. RYAN THOMPSON TO SPEAK AT IRONSTONE VINEYARDS MARCH 10TH
Local Family Practice Physician Ryan Thompson will be the guest speaker at the second “Let’s Talk Health” series luncheon at Ironstone Vineyards at noon on March 10th, 2010. Dr. Thompson has made a passion out of his personal family involvement with Autism and will share the search for causes, treatment and prevention of this disease that affects one child in 150. Dr. Thompson’s dedication led him to found Mind Matters, a multi-disciplinary clinic specializing in Learning Disorders, Autism and ADHD. ....


“Dr. Thompson is an inspiration to us all and we are very pleased to have him speak as a community benefit of the Mark Twain Health Care District” said board member Robert Campana. “His family has had to contend with this disease and knows from personal experience the commitment and sacrifice each family member must make. Dr. Thompson’s presentation will be an eye opener for all those in attendance.”

This is the second in the series of “Let’s Talk Health” presentations. Dan Savage will speak on “Childhood Diabetes And Our Family” on March 17th followed by Dr. Rhoda Nussbaum on “Cervical Cancer Is Preventable” on March 24th. $25 includes lunch and all presentations begin at noon. Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital is a not-for-profit, 48-bed general acute care hospital serving all of Calaveras County. Established in 1951 as Mark Twain District Hospital and centrally located in San Andreas, the hospital is partnered with Catholic Healthcare West to further strengthen this rural hospital to meet future community needs. The hospital is supported by 31 active physicians practicing in 24 specialties.

11:00 AM Calaveras County Garden Club General Meeting
The program for the general meeting of the Calaveras County Garden Club will be Lorina Cajias from Lorina's Edible garden. She will enthrall us with her "Show and Tell with Herbs" from her well known garden. If you've been curious why you should grow a particular herb
and just how you can use it in a recipe, you'll enjoy what Lorina has to share. She will also be
bringing some of her charming garden crafts for purchase.

The meeting takes place on March 10, 2010 at Angels Camp World Mercantile Store located at 1267 South Main in downtown Angels Camp at 11:00 A.M.

04:00 PM Calaveras Visitors Bureau Hosts Social Media Workshop
The Calaveras Visitors Bureau will be holding a Social Media Marketing Workshop on March 10, 2010 from 4pm-6pm at the Angels Camp World Mercantile on Main St. in Angels Camp. A local panel of experts, including Kris Jack of Computer Firemen, O.A.R.S. Marketing Director, Steve Markle and Bear Valley Mountain Marketing Manager, Rosie Sundell, will explain Social Media and give examples of how social media can enhance your marketing efforts. You will learn how to effectively use Facebook, Twitter , YouTube and more. Come with your questions and comments. Share your own tips on success you have experienced using social media marketing.This workshop is the first in a series of workshops that the Calaveras Visitors Bureau will be holding.
