All Day Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival
12th Annual Sutter Creek Ragtime Festival will be held August 13-15. Join us for a loaded-with-ragtime, musical fun-filled weekend featuring a silent movie night with Frederick Hodges & Keith Taylor, two gala festival concerts with our headliners, a Future of Ragtime concert featuring youth performers and 5 practically nonstop venues to choose from all weekend long. All events badges which include both concerts and the silent movies are $70. Youths 16 and under attend free with a paying adult. Day badges and individual concert tickets will also be available. Now, everyone can experience the wonders of the universe during the fourth annual Bear Valley Star Party (August 13th and 14th). A free event! Dark skies and masses of viewable stars have been the purview of residents and visitors since Bear Valley Ski Resort was developed in the late 1960’s. Today, organizers are encouraging everyone to come and discover this special gem, located on Scenic Highway 4 in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, to view the heavens, hear world-class music and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. ....

The Rail Road Flat Community Club is hosting a monthly pancake breakfast the 2nd Saturday of every month. The cost is only $5 per person. SATURDAY, AUGUST 14 – 7 p.m. Bear Valley Music Festival Opera – The Merry Widow. A unique opportunity to enjoy a fully staged and professionally sung performance of Fran’s Lehar’s “The Merry Widow” presented amid the majestic beauty of the Sierra Mountains. Staged in cooperation with the University of the Pacific’s Pacific Opera Institute, the stellar cast includes soprano Katie Van Kooten in the title role, tenor David Gagnon as Camille, Count de Rosillon, soprano Sarah Viola as Valencienne, and Eugene Brancoveanu as Count Danilo Danilovitsch. The other members of the cast, including embassy employees, visiting diplomats, cabaret entertainers, musicians, and servants will be from the Pacific Opera Institute. The Bear Valley Music Festival is located off California State Highway 4 on the Ebbetts Pass Corridor.
