We invite everyone to join us in celebrating Kindness Week in Calaveras County February 14 -18, 2011.
“The Seeds of Kindness, Create Ripples 2011” strives to:
* bridge and unite the diversity in our world through kind acts;
* help people value self and others through the expression of kind acts;
* foster an environment of kindness which encourages individuals and organizations to work together for a better world; and
* support any individual or organization who shares the Seeds of Kindness create ripples projects mission.

Free Financial Aid Workshop - Sonora
The Columbia College Financial Aid Office invites the community to a free financial aid workshop on Wednesday, February 16 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the Starbucks coffee shop in the Sonora Junction shopping center located at 13761 Mono Way. No appointment necessary. Financial Aid professionals will be available to answer questions and provide one-on-one assistance to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application online.....
To complete the application online, current and prospective students will need to bring the following:
* 2010 federal income tax forms or any 2010 income data collected for student and parent(s)/guardian(s) (i.e. W2 forms or year-end pay stubs, if you have not yet filed a 2010 tax return)
If you are considered a "dependent' for FAFSA purposes, you will not be able to submit the FAFSA without a parent present at the workshop.
Students are not considered a dependent if they answer yes to any of the following questions and are not required to supply information about their parent(s)/guardian(s):
* Were you born before January 1, 1988?
* As of today, are you married?
* Are you currently serving on active duty in the US Armed Forces for purposes other than training?
* Are you a veteran of the US Armed forces?
* Do you have children or other dependents who receive more than half of their support from you between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012?
* At any time since you turned 13, were both your parents deceased, were you in foster care, or were you a dependent of or ward of the court?
* Are you a documented unaccompanied homeless youth.

Friends of the Fair Calaveras County Meeting - Angels Camp
Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at CAMPS Restaurant in Angels Camp. Membership is $25 per year.
The Friends of the Fair hope to gain new members including the more “junior” citizens of our community. The Friends of the Fair are looking for members all over the county to join the Board and dedicate their time and ideas to the Fair in an effort to guarantee its success and survival. Any community members interested in joining the Friends of the Fair are encouraged to do so. Simply contact the Fairground Office to learn more.
