"How to Connect with People, In Spite of Everything You Know"
"How to Connect with People, In Spite of Everything You Know" workshop at the Mercantile, Angels Camp-209-890-7155
20 February, 2010
You are invited to a class introducing the principles and practices of Marshall Rosenbergʼs Compassionate Communication (also called Nonviolent Communication or NVC). Witness and experiment with tools and techniques that help transform lifelong, self-defeating habits in our thinking, speaking and listening. We invite you to “bring your stuff” and experiment with your own challenges in a safe, supported manner. Learn new possibilities for nurturing rich, rewarding relationships in your personal life, work and community, and increasing your own happiness. NVC is used to awaken compassion in couples, families, work settings, and in oneself. NVC is also used to restore compassionate connection in situations of ongoing physical violence, including prisons, inner cities, the Middle East, Africa, and Northern Ireland. Place: Angels Camp Mercantile & Café Time: Saturdays, 2/20, 2/27, and 3/6, 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. Cost: Donations are welcome but not required. In this first class, we want to give you an opportunity to see whether NVC and our classes are useful and enjoyable to you. We will ask for your feedback to help us adjust our offerings to best serve the community. info@awakeningcompassion.com

Attendees will learn and experience healing tools and processes, including active meditation, energy management/meridian tapping and moving through obstacles. These skills will help, attendees remain grounded in stressful situations; de-stress, relax and regenerate; and heal relationships.
"We wanted to create a forum where people could come in and learn techniques for how to deal with stressful situations," said Jackie Machado, one of the retreat's facilitators. She pointed out the economy, unemployment and rising crime rates as several reasons why people are becoming more and more stressed out. "It's an opportunity to boost one's self-esteem in these times that are so hard."
The day is sponsored by Whole Life Therapies, Well-ness by Choice and Balancing Through Touch and Movement.
Cost for the event is $15. There is limited seating; register by Feb. 12. Cost at the door will be $25. The workshop includes lunch. Send a check to Cathleen Hammons, 1330 Calaveritas Road, No. 37, San Andreas, CA 95249.
