Great Work By Local Law Enforcement!! ~ By Leanne Weatherman Smith

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/22/2016 04:08 PM
Murphys, CA...Huge thank you to Calaveras County Sheriff's department for apprehending a home invasion criminal in Murphys today! If Brad Button, Mark Miles and John Roscelli had not chased him down he may have evaded the officers for hours. To all the locals who stopped to help catch and spot the guy in the creek, you are all awesome!

Week Three of "This Week With The One Percent"

Posted by: thepinetree on 07/22/2016 09:18 AM
Arnold, CA...Welcome back and thank you for watching another week of "This Week With The One Percent" In this week's show our sites head up the hill to Bear Valley, First up in our conversations was with Bear Valley Music Festival's executive director Eman Isadiar who has been getting rave reviews during his tenure as director. They have another great round of concerts and provide even more reasons to visit our local high country as the thermometers head back into triple digits and lower levels. We also had the pleasure to spend a few minutes with Paul Peterson of Bear Valley Cross Country and Adventure Company. Paul & His Wife Dianne have been an integral part of the Bear Valley story for over 40 years. This year they have expanded their Kayak & on the water fleet and as always they are your high country destination for all your cycling, gear & even the essentials of snacks for you and fuel for your tanks.

Sonora, CA...15 July 2016, two subjects were arrested on several charges relating to the passing of counterfeit bills, conspiracy, and burglary. These activities were called to the Sonora Police Department’s attention when an employee from Carl’s Jr. reported that a male and a female attempted to purchase a milkshake using a counterfeit $20 bill. When the transaction was rejected, the two left the business and got into an awaiting cab. The employee was able to provide a detailed description of both subjects to police. A Sonora Police Officer arrived shortly after the call was made to the Police Department and saw the two seated in a cab attempting to leave the area. Both subjects matched the descriptions given by the Carl’s Jr. employee, and the officer noticed that the female was making suspicious movements attempting to avoid detection.

Twain Harte, CA...Search efforts are still on going this morning. Search and Rescue along with a helicopter remain in the area searching for Benaiah. There has been cell phone activity (data usage) on his account as early as this morning. SAR is working with the cellphone company to determine if it is actual usage or an automated situation. His family says he is familiar with the area and left with water and fishing poles. We will continue to post updates as they come in.

Sacramento, CA...I have just returned from the most recent Governor’s Tree Mortality Committee meeting in Sacramento and wanted to take a moment to update you with new developments and information. The most recent Ariel Survey of tree mortality was performed on 5/19/16 and is reporting that there are approximately 693,000 dead trees in Calaveras County, and an additional 7.2 Million dead trees in the Sequoia National Forest. There is approximately 37 Million dollars allocated to the USFS for tree removal and has been funded for startup costs for crews working high hazard Counties.
