Washington, DC...The United States strongly condemns today’s missile launch by the D.P.R.K. -- a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolutions related to the D.P.R.K. use of ballistic missile technology. This is the second time in just over a month that the D.P.R.K. has chosen to conduct a major provocation, threatening not only the security of the Korean peninsula, but that of the region and the United States as well. We reaffirm our ironclad commitment to the defense of our allies, including the Republic of Korea and Japan. We will continue to work with our partners and members of the UN Security Council on significant measures to hold the D.P.R.K. to account.

Washington, DC...Hi everybody. One of the things that makes America great is our passion for innovation – that spirit of discovery and entrepreneurship that helps us meet any challenge. One of the greatest challenges of our time is climate change. Over the last seven years, we’ve made historic investments in clean energy that helped private sector companies create tens of thousands of good jobs. And today, clean power from the wind or the sun is actually cheaper in many communities than dirtier, conventional power. It’s helped grow our economy and cut our total carbon pollution more than any other country on earth.

We caught up with owner Lynn Glocker as she was busy on her first day in the new showroom. The floors inside help tell the story at the heart of the business – recycled pine and cedar from the old White Pines bar, rough sawn oak planks from a large tree that fell nearby in 2010 – it’s a place where you can experience the raw materials of the surrounding forests transformed into functional art for the home.

CCWD Assists Butte Fire Recovery Efforts Of CalaverasGROWN
Posted by: thepinetree on 02/02/2016 11:15 AM
San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors recently contributed $5,000 to CalaverasGROWN to aide in Butte Fire recovery efforts. The community organization used the funds to purchase weed-free rice straw, which is spread over burned areas that have the highest risk of erosion. These efforts provide significant benefits to private landowners by giving the land a chance to spring back to life without catastrophic erosion damage. These erosion-control techniques also greatly reduce the amount of ash, mud and debris that end up in the Calaveras River, which flows into New Hogan Reservoir. But CalaverasGROWN is about much more than simply spreading straw.
Cal Waste Recycles With Goats (You Have To Watch The End Of The Video)
Posted by: thepinetree on 01/29/2016 09:03 AM
Arnold, CA...Cal-Waste is on the cutting edge of recycling technology. Sometimes the best way to go forward in recycling is decidedly old school. They rented the 350 + goats to eat the Christmas trees that were collected throughout the areas they service. There were probably 300-400 trees at the ranch. IT’s just another way to recycle the trees and not have to landfill them. We have hopes to next year make it a destination for families to bring their kids and see the process. There is a man that stays with the goats while they are here. He stays to take care of them and also to deliver the kids. There have been 10-15 kids born since they have arrived. As you can see in the video they are fenced off with their mother’s in a little nursery.
Iowa The GOP Side Is Cruz, Trump & Rubio...For The Dems Hillary Clings To Slim Lead
Posted by: thepinetree on 02/01/2016 08:02 PM
Des Moines, IA...As the GOP results are in and Ted Cruz takes home the top spot in Iowa with 28%. Trump proves that he is not invincible and came in a soft 24%. Marco Rubio was the clear winner of the biggest mover prize and came in just behind Trump at 23%. Carson was a distant 4th at 9%. The field is starting to shrink as Governor Mike Huckabee announced he is suspending his campaign. On the Democratic Side Hillary is clinging to a slim one percent edge over Bernie Sanders. O'Malley as a non issue and announced he is suspending his campaign. Our initial takeaway is that Trump may have been punished a few percentage points for not playing team ball and attending the last debate.
Now the battle moves to New Hampshire. New Hampshire has not always been kind to Iowa winners but this year seems to
