Industrial Accident in Angels Camp Sends Two By Mediflight!

Angels Camp, CA...Yesterday morning an industrial accident injured at least two workers that were flown to out of area hospitals. Initial reports are that a piece of equipment may have come into contact with high voltage power lines. Our prayers are with the injured and hope they make a speedy recovery. We would like to thank a viewer for that photos.

Jeanne Marelli (Stewart) Gibbens Has Passed Away At 92

San Andreas, CA...Jeanne Marelli (Stewart) Gibbens, a longtime resident of San Andreas, passed away on Feb. 13, 2018, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Gibbens, in 1965; her husband, Ellis “Al” Gibbens in 1988 and her brother, LaVerne Stewart in 2011. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Fred Gerard of San Andreas, CA; her daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Rob North of Zephyr Cove, NV; and by her five grandchildren, Jeanne’ (Rick) Campbell of Half Moon Bay, Jaime (Tobin) Nelson of San Mateo, Joshua Gerard of San Andreas, Sierra (Celia Carter) North of Oakland, and Skyler (Cari) North of Leander, TX. In addition to being grandmother to five, she is survived by her 14 great-grandchildren.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!. 5am and things are just about to get going as the storm slows a bit and will shed the bulk of its moisture during the day today. A high in the low 20’s will be in effect with increased winds up to 20-30mph today as the pressure gradient tightens. 3-5″ of new snowfall is expected during the day today with another 1-2″ slated to fall tonight. Unsettled weather will remain over the area for the next 5-6 days with a handful of small systems moving through as next week will again open the storm door with moderate upper level moisture coupled with more cold arctic air. "The Pine Tree News: FYI……………Yesterday, one of our employees, Steven Popish found the two dogs on the Tuolumne side of the river just south of McKays dam. We contacted the owners, who picked up the dogs yesterday. Note: They were very cold and very hungry. Good ending to the story."

Mark Twain Medical Center & Soroptimist Offering FREE Cholesterol Tests During February

San Andreas, CA...As part of a continuing partnership with Soroptimist International of Calaveras County, Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be offering FREE cholesterol tests for women in Calaveras County during American Heart Month in February. This FREE screening is also known as a lipid panel. The test measures good and bad cholesterol and triglycerides helping to identify women at greater risk of heart disease and stroke. The “Take It to Heart Program” offers the free cholesterol tests throughout February to women who live in Calaveras County. A 12 hour fast is recommended or no food after midnight, as is proof of Calaveras County residency. Women needing the FREE cholesterol screenings do not need to schedule an appointment.

San Andreas, CA...Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program. (The first year being Transitional Kindergarten and the second year a more traditional Kindergarten program.) Students may enroll in a Transitional Kindergarten program if they are five years old on September 2 through December 2. Children must be five years old prior to September 2 to enroll in traditional Kindergarten. Parents and guardians may optionally enroll their age-eligible child in a Transitional Kindergarten program. Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten enrollment packets will be available at Calaveras Unified School District elementary schools beginning February 21, 2018. The deadline for returning the packets is April 6, 2018. If you have any questions, please call the school.

From AB 424, McCarty. Possession of a firearm in a school zone..."Existing law makes it a crime to possess a firearm in a place that the person knows, or reasonably should know, is a school zone, unless it is with the written permission of the school district superintendent, his or her designee, or equivalent school authority. This bill deletes the authority of a school district superintendent, his or her designee, or equivalent school authority to provide written permission for a person to possess a firearm within a school zone.
