Arnold, CA...PG&E has restored power to most customers after it was knocked out during last evenings thunderstorms. There are still over 1,000 customers in the Ebbetts Pass Area and Hwy 108 Corridor that PG&E says will be restored by early afternoon...

Updates to follow...(Update...over 5,000 without power at this time in the Arnold area and PG&E is reporting over 9,000 without power in the Mi Wuk Village area... Joseph M. Senn, General Building Contactor 1927-2014

Murphys, CA...Joseph M. Senn passed away suddenly on September 18, 2014, at his home in Murphys, at the age of 87. Born July 11, 1927 in French Camp, Joe grew up in Stockton. Joe served with the United States Navy on the USS Iowa until 1946. He then moved to San Andreas to assist his mother in managing the ranch located on Mountain Ranch Road. In 1952 Joe married the love of his life, Agatha M. Ott, of Manteca. He worked for Blagen Lumber Company at Toyon, until 1958 when he opened Joe's Cabinet Shop. In 1960 he obtained his General Building Contractor's license and built more than 100 homes and remodeled many throughout Calaveras County and the surrounding counties. The family lived on the ranch, in San Andreas, until 1970 and then moved to Murphys. Joe was a co-owner of Lake Alpine Lodge from 1968 to 1977....

Mokelumne Hill, CA...As September rolls on, we are all eagerly awaiting Autumn, not only for some Fall colors but to enjoy cooler temperatures. Thankfully, Deborah Marlene's Art Studio and Gallery is nice and cool inside; Fall colors are starting to show up now, too. This September, Deborah is welcoming Kate Frederick, as her "Artist Friend of the Month." Kate resides in Arnold with her husband Dave. She is a former member of the Arts of Bear Valley and in addition to Deborah Marlene's, she is currently showing her works, at the Aloft Gallery in Sonora. Besides creating her "artistic expressions" Kate also works full time as a realtor, at Coldwell Banker, in Arnold.

Arnold, CA...We just spoke with TCU Command and 7 engines, 2 hand crews and a dozer are inbound to this incident near the Blue Mountain Lookout Tower. Access will be made using Summit Level Road so you will see increased activity through the Arnold area. Units should be on scene soon.... Update as of 9:15pm...We just checked in with TCU Command and the fire is 2 acres in size and they are making good progress on the fire and plenty of resources are on hand...

Arnold, CA....It is a smokey morning in our area but currently there are no fires burning according to CAL-Fire's Lisa Williams. She said the smoke is from The Irene and King Fires. Irene is a 94 acre lightning strike fire that has 151 personal working it in the Mokelumne Wilderness. The beast that is now the 76,376 acre King Fire burning in the Eldorado National Forest is alos contributing to our lack of air quality. Let's be careful out there and thankful we at least at the current time are fire free.....

Since 2006, Grant has served our community as the Calaveras Superior Court Commissioner where he regularly presides over family law and civil disputes. Placerville, CA...The King Fire area closure is effect in the Eldorado National Forest beginning September 17, announced Forest Supervisor Laurence Crabtree. “Under our Unified Command System, our top priorities are fighting this fire and keeping the fire fighters and the public safe, said Crabtree. “We cannot safely fight this fire with intermingled publics. Please stay out of the closed areas until I can reopen them, which I intend to do as soon as possible.”......

Caltrans Hwy 4 Roadwork Update...More Detail Coming Soon

Arnold, CA...We spoke with the Caltrans District 10 office today and starting tomorrow after conferring with the District Engineer they will be passing along more detailed information on the repairs. Instead of saying just Douglas Flat to Meko they will be giving mileage range for current work. On the bright side when the patching and overlay is complete Hwy 4 should be in great shape for the next several years....

Arrest Made In King Fire

Camino, CA...CAL FIRE and United States Forest Service (USFS) law enforcement officers, in conjunction with the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a Pollock Pines man on suspicion of arson in connection with the King Fire. Wayne Allen Huntsman, 37, of Pollock Pines was booked into the El Dorado County Jail for arson on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. Federal, State and Local law enforcement officers work diligently in arson cases to aggressively investigate and prosecute those suspected of intentionally starting fires....

King Fire Prompts Backcountry Advisory & Rubicon Trail Now Closed

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. –Due to the uncertain path of the King Fire, the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit has closed the McKinney Rubicon Trail and is advising against travel into the Desolation or Granite Chief wildernesses. The Eldorado National Forest has issued a forest closure for its Desolation Wilderness trails and trailheads. In particular, hikers and equestrians should consider cancelling plans for overnight travel into the Desolation and Granite Chief wildernesses....
