MTMC: ‘Friends and Neighbors Taking Care of Friends and Neighbors’

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/22/2017 02:10 PM
San Andreas, CA....Robert Diehl, who took over as President of Mark Twain Medical Center six months ago, has a very clear explanation of its role in the community. He says, “We are friends and neighbors taking care of friends and neighbors.” “Our community is made up of individuals at differing stages of life and health. We are here for everyone. And,” he emphasizes, “we are here for the long haul. Our team of seasoned administrators and medical professionals are the day-to-day stewards of MTMC. The community is aware of the ongoing conversations regarding our governing lease, yet at the same time everyone can see we are investing in the future with recent capital improvements like painting the facility and repairing the roof and HVAC system. Nothing is in a holding pattern around here.”

Hey Good People!!! The "Pure Mountain Fun" Keeps Coming!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/20/2017 09:37 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Expect possible delays with Mtn Operations today's with increasing winds and snowfall 7" of new snow as of 5am this morning overnight and 10" in the last 24hrs. A mix of rain /snow is expected through the day today as the warm air aloft arrives with a projected snow elevation level of 7000'. 1-3" of snow is possible today with a 50/50 chance that it could go either way today being full rain or snow., we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out over the next few hours. The expected high is suggested to be 36F and falling to 28F by 3pm or so. Winds will be out of the South from 18-23mph with gusts to 34mph. Tonight will continue with a mix of rain and snow as the temp will again rise to around 38F during the early morning of Tuesday coupled with high winds in the 40-48mph range with gusts to 75mph and continuing out of the South. Tuesday could drop another 7-11" of new snow as the temps fluctuate and winds will again be out of the South from 31-36mph with gusts to 55mph. The Lower Mtn will be on hold today due to the higher elevation snow levels as concerns there are Avalanche related. It's been a handful of years since we've seen these type of events so expect some possible delays with operations in and around the resort over the next 4-5 days. Someone's been talking to Ullr............ Come up to Bear Valley and experience our local "Pure Mtn Fun" ethos and stay tuned..........

Work Continues Round The Clock On Damaged Oroville Spillway

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/20/2017 07:29 AM
Oroville, CA...Flow from the Oroville Dam Flood Control Spillway will remain at 55,000 cfs and continue to outpace the inflow encountered. The reduction in flow has allowed assessment teams to view debris buildup and dredge debris piles below the flood control spillway. Lake elevations continue trending downward and had fallen to 852 feet, by 4:00 this morning, 48 feet below the emergency spillway. As runoff flows into the reservoir, water levels will likely fluctuate but will remain within acceptable and typical depths during times of storm activity. Despite current inclement weather, work continues on the area below the spillway, the monoliths, access roads, and various eroded areas created by emergency spillway runoff. Rock, aggregate, and cement slurry continue to be placed into areas affected by erosion. This work will continue 24 hours a day.
