Traffic Update..At Least Two Flown with Injuries From Afternoon Accident |

Valley Springs, CA...Crews are working the tail end of an accident that sent at least two by medi-flight to Sagramento and Modesto hospitals. Before 4pm this afternoon a vehicle overturned off the roadway and into the trees on Hwy 12 near Burson Road. Please use caution in the area and we will not doubt have more information from CHP on this incident later....

On May 26, 2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m. the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was notified that Fay Burford was located wandering on foot in a rural area in Tulare County....

Angels Camp, CA...This newly published book is titled, "The Sights and History of Arnold, Murphys and "Copper", and covers the history of Calaveras (south half) County from about 8,000 B.C. to today. An entire chapter is devfoted to the activities of our local indians. Then it jumps into the history of the first village that one would visit as they enter the county from the west, Telegraph City. Yes, it's just a ghost town today, but you'll see a picture of the Parks mansion which burned to the ground in 1921. It was a beauty! The foundations are still there for you to see...

San Andreas, CA..(Update She Has Been Found!)The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in located a missing 75 year old woman. On May 24, 2013 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a missing persons report concerning an elderly female adult. Fay Burford, age 75, of Murphys, California was last seen at a scheduled appointment in Walnut Creek, CA on May 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. She was expected to arrive back at her Murphys home on the same date, but has not been seen or heard from since leaving her appointment. Mrs. Burford is driving a faded silver or taupe colored 1996 Jeep Cherokee, license plate # 4YMC949. Records indicate that her bank card was used in Colinga, CA at 6:30 p.m. and in Lake Isabelle at 11:30 p.m. on May 23rd...

Arnold, CA..Dorothy Baughman-Fowler was born in Murray, Utah to Philip and Hazel Atkinson. She spent most of her youth in Inkom, Idaho. She married Charles Sherman Baughman in 1936 and they came to California shortly after. In 1957 they moved to Arnold, CA and lived there until Charles’ death in 1968....

Sonora, Calif. (May 23, 2013)…The Forest Service today announced that 28 Stanislaus National Forest campgrounds and picnic areas will be open to accommodate visitors and campers for this Memorial Day weekend. At some higher elevations this year, a number of campgrounds will open later as the snow melts. All of the Forest’s 53 developed campgrounds, offering 1,466 campsites, are scheduled to be open and available by mid-summer this year....

The work that was to be performed requires warmer weather than we are currently experiencing. This work will be rescheduled in the future and we will send out the new date when it is available...

With summer right around the corner, the Food Bank is bracing for our numbers to increase. In May of last year we saw 1,142 families come into the Food Bank for food. In June of last year 1,507 families walked through our doors...
