Robin Burcell spent nearly three decades working in law enforcement as a police officer, hostage negotiator, criminal investigator and FBI Academy-trained forensic artist. Burcell currently co-writes with international best-selling author Clive Cussler on the Fargo series. Pirate, their first co-written book, was released in 2016. The Romanov Ransom, next in that series, will be out September 12, 2017.

Murphys, CA...Robert “Bob” White of Murphys, CA, passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2018, after a short illness. He was a retired furniture salesman, having been employed by Breuner’s in San Carlos, CA for 21 years. Born in Seattle, WA, he was the son of Elizabeth McRae of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Michael White of London, England, who had met and married in Seattle. Bob was a talented musician, playing saxophone and clarinet with dance bands at the Trianon and other nightspots in Seattle in his youth. He joined the US Coast Guard towards the end of World War II and was stationed in San Francisco with the Coast Guard Band, greeting troop ships as they returned to the Bay.
Murphys, CA...John Edward Steele, June 28,1936 – April 11,2018. With great sadness we announce the passing of our father John Edward Steele, at age 82, of Murphys, Ca. John went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on April 11, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born to the late Addison and Viola Steele, on June 28, 1936, in Liberty, New York. John graduated in 1955 from Watsonville High School. He worked most of his life as a Carpenter and Baker. He was also a Mason most of his adult life. He lived mostly in Aromas, Milpitas, and San Jose, then retired to Arnold, Ca.
San Andreas, CA...Our Mom, Catherine Mary West - 81, passed away at home of natural causes in the wee hours of January 24th of this year, 2018, while living at 339 Toyanza Drive in San Andreas, California 95249. San Andreas is a long way from Manhattan, New York, which is where Mom was born on the 22nd of December in 1936. Though she left high school to get married and start a family, she eventually earned her GED and went on to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She always enjoyed the fellowship she found within the Roman Catholic Church and often served as a Eucharistic Minister, a Hospitality Coordinator, a Pre School Sunday School Teacher, or wherever there was a need.

Valley Springs, CA...Brian Eugene Gillick, 59, passed away in his home on April 17, 2018. Born April 4, 1959 in Lodi, CA to Gordon and Bonnie Gillick. He was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Brian’s family moved to Valley Springs when he was a toddler. His entire schooling was in Calaveras County. He graduated from Calaveras High School in 1977. He worked for Ron’s Exxon Station as a teenager. He got a job at Pacific Gas & Electric Company as a meter reader in 1979. Brian loved that 1 day a month he would go out by boat and read the meters at various islands on the delta. He moved from an outside job to working in the office in the mid 80’s. He held many supervisor positions and was a computer analyst at the end of his 39 years with the company.

Arnold, CA...In the early hours of Thursday March 22, 2018, Arnold resident Michael “Mike” Padgett, age 71, passed away peacefully in Sonora, California, with loved ones at his side. Mike was born to Wayne Padgett and Dean Byrd in Hayward, California on June 24th 1946. Mike was raised with sister, Stephanie Padgett, and brother Ronny Byrd in Fremont California by his mother Dean Byrd and his stepfather William Byrd. He graduated from Irvington High School in Fremont California.

In addition to many aircraft flying in there will be aircraft, classic cars, & RC airplanes on display. Lions Club will be serving a pancake breakfast and for lunch EAA chapter 484 will BBQ hamburgers & more. Angels Camp, CA...Angels Camp resident Roberta Seeman passed away on April 11th in Stockton, CA. Roberta was born on March 15, 1937 in Angels Camp to the late Albert and Celia Beltramo. Roberta grew up and lived in the Purdyville residence that was home to three generations of Vico and Beltramos. Roberta graduated from Bret Harte High School in 1955, and had a 35 year career at Calaveras Cement where through a mutual friend she was introduced to her husband of 45 years Clyde Seeman.

Trenton, FL...The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Bobby Schultz are mourning the loss of two of their family members, Sergeant Noel Ramirez and Deputy Sheriff Taylor Lindsey, shot to death inside the Ace China restaurant in Trenton around 3:00pm this afternoon.
Downed Tree Blocks Parrotts Ferry & Community Helps Open Roadway Back Up

Columbia, CA...From the Sonora area CHP...."Approx 8:15 pm, we received a report of a tree down blocking Parrotts Ferry Road approximately one mile north of Marble Quarry Road. Upon arriving on scene, it was discovered that the tree was approximately 3 feet in diameter and was completely blocking the roadway. A passing lumberjack was quick to provide assistance, cutting the tree into large portions and dragging them out of the way. The good citizens of Tuolumne and Calaveras counties were quick to lend their assistance in removing large limbs from the road and raking and shoveling debris.

San Andreas, CA...The month of April is dedicated to honoring all the volunteers in a community and encouraging volunteerism overall. Mark Twain Medical Center Foundation honored the hospital volunteers with an appreciation lunch on April 16th. With the theme “Volunteers Plant the Seeds of Kindness” the event highlighted their many hours spent spreading kindness throughout the hospital and family medical centers. The hospital benefits from 26 human volunteers and three pet volunteers who contributed a combined total of more than 5,100 hours of service annually.

Subaru vs Home on Parrotts Ferry Leads to Arrest of Murphys Man

Columbia, CA...On April 18, 2018, at approximately 8:55 pm, a 26 year old Murphys resident, was driving a 2007 Subaru Forester northbound on Parrotts Ferry Road, north of Porcina Way at approximately 30-35 MPH, while under the influence of alcohol. Due to his high level of alcohol intoxication, as he entered a right hand curve in the roadway, he allowed the Subaru to run off of the road, through a fence and collide with a residence at 23732 Parrotts Ferry Road. The Subaru overturned onto its right side. The driver stayed on scene and awaited CHP arrival. He was transported via ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora to be treated for minor injuries and was subsequently booked at the Tuolumne County Jail. The occupants at the residence were not harmed.

Atlanta, GA...Eighteen more ill people have been added to the CDC investigation. Five more states have reported ill people: Alaska, Arizona, California, Louisiana, and Montana. Nine more hospitalizations have been reported, including two people who developed a type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome. Highlights from the CDC...Information collected to date indicates that chopped romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region could be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 and could make people sick.
